What does it mean when my Exhaust manifold glows cherry red?
My EGT when I first start it is 6, but after driving it for 8 mins it climbs to 10.
At that point, the MR2 T hesitates under any boost and the exhaust manifold is red hot!
What gives here?

Stock Boost.
Original Exhaust.
Air Filter
B.O.V.
Fresh Rebuild
No Smoke
If you drive it for about 10 minutes with no boost, you get a red hot glowing Exhaust manifold. If you boost up, then it get hot quicker. So, I'm not driing it right now until I figure this out dude. Also, the car runs 3/4 hot on the temp gauge. Don't know why?
No Coolant leaks
All coolant hoses replaced
Radiator fan turns on, but just for a few secs and at a very low speed
New water pump
New thermostat
How do I read my EGT gauge? It climbs to 12 in under 10mins.
Whats wrong with this new rebuild? :dunno:
Sounds like your timming is really retarded ...
Check base timming

Alright for some reason your car is running really lean so you might have an intake leak somewhere. your injectors might not be firing right and dumping enough fuel. anything that could create a lean condition would cause your manifolds to glow red. even a minor intake leak could casue this. jsut keep that in mind in your diagnosis.

My car has a high pitch whistle coming from the throttle body. The sound seems to be INSIDE of the throttle body. My EGT gauge has been reading 15, which maximum on that gauge is 16.
This shit ain't right, dude! Any ideas?

its an intake tract leak that is casuing more air into the system after the maf therefore casuing it to run lean becasue there is more air ggoing into the motr than the maf accounts for so it is getting way to hot.

Ok,
Intake track leak, makes sense. How does one begin to troubleshoot that problem? What parts should I take out or replace?
Thanks.

Did you bleed the air out of your radiator? Remeber that the MR2's needs the air removed from the radiator system also unplug the thermoswitch located at the btm of the radiator so your fan will stay on at all time. Then check your timing

easy way to check for air leak in intake ..get a can of carb cleaner carfully spray around intake manafold ,injectors,TB,and any vac lines ...as you spray the intake with engine running listen for rpm Increase and drop when you hear that you found your leak ..then repair ...also make sure you have good exaust flow at tail pipe ..if your exaust is cloged (at the cat or other area ) it will be very hot with little to no flow , if you still have a cat in the car i wouldnt drive it with the egt gauge that high you could make enough heat to melt the cat and start i fire ,iv seen two older supra's do that .

Continue to drive your car like that and the engine will blow. You better fix this problem. Do like he said with the throttle body cleaner. Replace your factory intercooler coupler eith a more higher quality coupler which you can buy locally at amazon hose, or get from online at www.atpturbo.com. I would also consider replacing the throttle body gasket. Have you ever taken any of these parts apart before, such as the throttle body, intake manifold, or anything like that?

I dropped off my car at Lakeland Toyota last Friday. I carefully drove it there. It made it ok. Will post what they find.
THanks to all, PEACE-
