OMG, that poor kid. You can hear the panic. It looks like he missed that tractor by only a few feet. What track is he on?

That had to hurt....

I watched that a few times trying to figure out just what he did wrong. Hard to say but I'm guessing he lifted a bit too much while in that gentle right. Combine that with the wet track and he just lost it. Scary.

I'd agree that he lifted too much. I think he also unwound the steering a bit too quickly.

We play rugby in the rain! We even got asked to come off of a field in NC by the police because it was a "public hazard" to be out in the hail!!!

nah that kid wasnt riding on good tires...any car with good tires could of gone through that turn with lifting off and not sliding like that with contersteer...that should teach the dumbass.

newsflash: Speed can be difficult to gauge in video footage. He was hauling ass in the rain.

I think he hit standing water. If you look at the track in the spot where he loses it, you will see that one of the tire tracks from the car in front disappears into a round shape formation. Probably a puddle. I would do a screen cap but I'm at work.

I think he is in 4th Gear so he is probably approaching 100. Maybe a more aggressive counter steer maneuver would have saved him, but I doubt it. In the wet there is usually no saving it. At least in my experience.

I don't think any tire is going to do good lifting off, in standing water, at 100 in a turn.

Which is why I would never drive like that at a track in the rain. Rain makes things too unpredictable...

he countersteered like a mofo. he hydro'd soo bad he had 0 grip simple as that...his tires sucked. he was like in 3rd gear in a fucking honda taking a BEND in moderate rain...his tires werent properly maintained.

And you know he was in 3rd gear how? You're assuming that in the 38 seconds of video footage we have that he was in first gear at the slowest point. It's possible that that's the case, but again we get back to the fact that speed and distance are difficult to gauge in video footage. It may well have been a 2nd gear corner. That would put him in 4th.

Beyond that, apparently you don't understand the concept of hydroplaning. When it happens, your tires aren't in contact with the pavement and you have not grip. I don't care if your tires stick to the pavement like fucking super glue, if you hydroplane, how sticky your tires are is irrelavent as is the degree of countersteer you input.

Beyond that, the guy was running at high speeds on a course. It's quite reasonable to assume that he was running on some sort of slick or at the very least, a street tire that had been shaved to 4/32" of tread. That's a prime candidate for hydroplaning.

You don't know what you're talking about and I confident you could do any more than wallow around the track in your Supra, so you might want to sit back, close your mouth and stop making yourself look like a tool.

And then the dreaded overmoderator came out of hiding...

I happen to agree with Leonard and Word, but this thread is going nowhere fast. Cool video, though. Hope it makes us all think a little bit more next time we're out pushing the limits in the rain.
