I got my subs hooked up the other day the 2 15" rockfords, and a new 760 watt pioneer amp for them. but when the bass hits when i have the cd player turned up to about 20 the amp will turn off for a sec untill i turn the sound down back down. so i hooked up the battery charger to the car and when the bass hits the charger drops down real far, and thats when the amp turns off..

I Guess i need to get a optima yellow top and idk about what cap to get ..? :dunno:

Thanks

i'd guess there's something wrong with the way your system is set up. Check to see if there is a protection light that turns on on the amp when it turns off

Considering you have a 10 year old VW, I'd first upgrade your battery to a red top and also upgrade your wiring from your alternator to the battery to ground to 4 gauge. If it still does it, you probably need a larger alternator.

Hmm i guess when i get a job ill look into buying the stuff to upgrade it all... right now im runnin 8 gauge power and ground wires from the battery to the amp. and all the wiring is right in the set up so i know its not that ...

Whats happening is the voltage is too low for the amp. Get a yellow top and upgrade your alt to battery line to at least 4 guage, or 0/1 if you can. See if that makes an improvement

Not likley. More often than not, capacitors are useless if you have the proper equipment in place. Good wiring, good connections, terminals, etc. I've never had a cap in ANY installs.

You should still do the wiring for the time being :) its the cheapest one

You have to determine the total wattage you will be running. and yes alt to battery
