from what ive seen about 500hp is the blow up point on stock rods and pistons, i dont know which goes first, but its usually a rod hanging out of the block. if your going to change your rods or pistons why wouldnt you change both? i know dodge sells rods and pistons as a set, can you actually seperate them ?

just go for 400-425 whp and be done with it. that will be MORE than enough power to go 11s and be happy

I wouldnt go more than 450 myself before changing pistons, and not more than 500 before changing rods, but seriously...to make a lot more power than that you would need a huge turbo, I have wisecos and t2 rods in my 2.4 good for close to 600HP if I ever decided to break every part in my motor before achieving that...my eventual goal is 400, I just like overkill(and I got the wisecos so I could rev past 6500 RPM in safety, not to mention the SRT pistons dont come .020 over, or didnt when I got the wisecos..and I got a good deal on the T2 rods bushed for a 2.4, not to mention no one has ever reported breaking one that I'm aware of, and there have been turbo 2 guys pushing 550), if I had a stock SRT4 motor(I do have a stock SRT block sitting aroundI got for free I intend to rebuild, previous owner spun 2 rod bearings)...stock bottom end would be fine for me

You can make 400whp+ without upgrading to a bigger turbo...i'll be the one to prove it :-)...

And ill be right there to buy you some lunch if your pistons dont injure anyone when they go flying.

sure you can...its called nitrous, other than that...I can see someone squeezing maybe 320 or so out of that turbo

400hp out of a stock turbo. Say hello to time bomb. EGT's will be skyhigh, I dont care how safe your air/fuel is.

I know...trying to think of a resolve to that :-)

I know...trying to think of a resolve to that :-)

the resolve is a bigger turbo :-D. cmon, an AGP 50 trim is only like 1600 and will be a LOT more comfortable with power levels near that, even though it might not quite make the 400 whp.....

naw, maybe after I reach that mythical HP number and decide to go with something bigger, but right now I'm keeping it....you might be able to find a used one on dsm trader though, or if you want one that fits a t3 manifold you could always order one new from modern performance....$900 for both a manifold and the 20g...but this is for the 1st gen, havent even looked in their SRT4 section

Stock bottom end limit is 550whp.
I would not go over 500-525whp without rods/pistons.

Good luck.

I have wisecos on t2 rods....I dont think my bottom end is a problem right now, besides, this isnt even an SRT motor....its a beefier build on a 96 sebring block, I do plan on doing some more work though on a spare 2.0L DOHC head I have sitting around
