can anyone offer me relevant proof on the age old question of should you do a burnout with drag radials???

i DO NOT do a burnout on my BFGs, i just do a "clean em' off" spin after going around the water box.

but lately i have been seeing alot of stuff about people doing burnouts on DRs.

i know some compunds do not require a burnout as they wear fast enough as it is without having to heat and tear em up even worse.

so TR throw up some answers for me

Yes you should do a burnout to not only clean off your tires but to heat them up. I use M/T Drag Radials and I am always a consistant 1.7 60 ft. Also Steve ( rubberneck ) uses DR's now and puts down a massive burnout and pulled a 1.44 60 ft with his mustang. I'd say heat them up.

15lbs. and heat the mother fuckers.A slick will need less of a burn out then a drag radial.

Go around, back up into, spin them a rotation, roll out of water, begin powerbrake.

If I catch you driving through the water then doing your burnout, I'm gonna smack you.

ive known not to go though the waterbox for a loooooooooooooong time. Before I even step foot onto the track. Scott posted a article a long time ago about this. Kinda figured they are not drag radial because of the stiff sidewalls.

You gotta do a hard burnout with those drag radials...The less tread they have the better they hook...Ask any of the guys that run in Drag radial classes.

I saw a guy at bmp drive through the waterbox, and didnt do a burnout at all :dunno:

Does the same rule apply for fwd cars and going through the waterbox?

FWD have to roll up to the waterbox to do the burn out and then just keep going though hopefully not to much water trails by your rear wheels, thats why rwd cars dont like being behind fwd ones.
