I actually just picked this car up about a week ago and I want to test the waters and see what I could get for it should I want to trade or sell it. I LOVE this car and its an absolute blast to drive!! However if the right offer where to come along...well ya never know. The car has a 72 small block 350 from a 3/4 ton van it is a 4 bolt main and has a 700r4 trans with overdrive. Parts are as follows:

holley 670cc carb
holley pollished intake manifold
block hugger headers
b&m ratchet shifter
electric fan with jtr radiator
chrome alternator, valve covers, oil pan, ac compressor and brackets.
electric fuel pump with adjustable regulator
slyvainia silverstar headlights wired with relays to take all load of stock headlight switch. These are very bright and crisp white light.
Engine runs 100%

The car is tuned for the street. And its a pleasure to drive its easy to get sideways and follows its rear through corners it has manual steering so its easy to keep straight under WOT. the tail whips back and forth but I have never felt like I was going to lose the car it straightens its self out nicely. The car is easily a 12 second car the way it sits now but a cam would add at least 75hp, it has an r/v cam in it now. There is a small rust spot on the roof. The floor pans have surface rust but are intact. This car is a fine example of a z that has been cared for well over the years and its a true joy and honer to own it. So offer accordingly. Lowballers will be ignored.

barfIf you check out an older issue of Car Craft there is a drifting El Camino on the west coast that is tearing it up and it uses an automatic. Not the best thing in the world, but it be better if it had manual valve body and the such.

For the uneducated:

Although this is not the perfect example of a Z car with a 350 transplant there are some very good reasons to do this. The v8 is shorter than the inline 6, this brings the weight of the motor more towards the rear of the car, improving balance. If done using an all aluminum motor, then the weight is actually reduced. More power, less or at least better distributed weight, and better handling, I don't see the downside. Is there one other than the tired, "It's Japanese, it shouldn't have an American motor in it"?

Nice car. If I were going to have one, I'd really want a manual and at least aluminum heads.
