Post em up!

I was installing the first head unit in my blazer. After making the abs panel and doing all the wiring, there was one wire on the harness that wasnt used. No idea what it was for, the manual didnt haveit listed :dunno: So I just taped it off. Go to test the head unit, finally after a long day of cutting my abs and fititng it, and soldering and heat shinking, it works. But the key in chime is going. car is on..still going. Im not pleased. Maybe its the green wire! feed it power, ground it, nothing, nothing registers on the dmm, no matter what I do :(

Oh yeah the door is open  yeah the green wire has NO effect on that at all  :bbb:

Installing a head unit/amp/subs in a friends car, she says her ex did the install last time and she knows nothign about it, just the subs stopped working, and so did some of her speakers. I dont know why I assume that everyone knows a decent way to install, besides wire nuts and scotch tape  half the wire nuts were off, and I guess some scotch tape melted... the 8 guage for the amp was run thru the doorjam.

More recently, I was unlaoding groceries and this guy who lives below me pulls up. I know he just got something installed since he was bumping in the lot in front of my apartment for like 20 minutes. He comes over, checks out the box, "what kinda sub is that" and not for nothing, I really dont like explaining the sub, and where I got it etc etc. Just a hassle since nobody knows wtf Im talking about. conversation goes as such

"elemental designs"
"huh"
"elemental designs"
"oh yeah, Ive heard of them, my buddy has some"
"really, thats cool, most people have no idea"
"yeah I got some really loud stuff from circuit city, puts that sub to shame"
"oh really."
"yeah this company called audiobahn, you ever hear of them"
"once or twice"
*shows me his bandpass box*
"listen to this" *cranks it up*
Its loud but sounds terrible.
"Hey man lemme get one of my cd's, a test disc I have, since I do this stuff a lot"
the disc has a LOT of stuff on it, jack johnson and dave for acoustic, les claypool for bass gutiar heavy stuff, etc. and a few cycles
It all sounds like crap, except the cycles.
"wanna listen to my stuff man?"
get in, explain the kick panels, and the subs tuning freq etc.
the look on his face was priceless.
"man, this sounds really really good, I mean.. really good"
"thanks, but hey yours is louder."

Once, at SA, this kid brings his car in...he has one of those water-cooled amp type deals that never really caught on...installed by himself. He says his amp just stopped working and can't figure it out, maybe we can test it. So we take a look at it, and the kid has the amp all wired up and sitting in a tub of water. We just left.

 thast the funniest story i have ever heard.. one time i was installed a system for my friend in her 04 accord, well every one i had done had an after market head unit so i never used one of the crossover things, well me being the idiot i am, take off the door panel, pull out the speaker, realize i dont know what wires to go to, sit there for about an hour trying to figure it out, and she goes.. tim..cant you just use these wires, DUH i forgot the stupid back speakers in the trunk

then, this kid at work has a teg with 2 12's of some sort, everyone tells me his system is so loud blah blah, so i was liek can i check it out? hes liek yeah sure, does loud music hurt your ears? i was like no ill be ok.. expecting my hair to stand up, i sit inside and was like wtf?? thats like my stock radio lol... but me being the nice guy i am, say yeah that sounds good, sounds like a good deal. so he wanted to hear mine, i felt bad cuz he thought he was the shit, then i turned mine up and he just got this blank stair and goes "damn......that sounds fucking good bro"

ok so im at a stop light with my sub level on zero. This kid in a green civic comes up blaring his system. now i have a huge head ach so i asked the kid nicely could u please turn the system down. he gave me a goofy smile and turned it up louder. i swear his speakers were distorting and the bass sounded like ass. so now i think to my self this little sh*t. so dispited my head ach i turn my system on full blast, bassed the sh*t out of him :dbird: . by the time i was done he was rolling up his window with a pissed off look on his face. sad part about the whole story after i did that my head hurt worse.

My first decent system was in a 91 MR2. I had a 12" kappa perfect in 1.0 cube right behind the passenger seat(yeah no leg room). Well needless to say it shook the living daylights out of anyone sitting in the passenger seat. One day on the way to lunch I'm bassing it up with one of my friends. All the sudden he says that he can't see so well. He looks down to see his contact in his lap... to his day I don't know if the pressure actually knocked it out but it makes for a cool story :)

car audio killed my father, and raped my mother.

i realize that's not really funny, but it does explain why i haven't been in here lately.

the worst sound car i think i ever saw was when i was working at sound advice and this guy cam in with an old chevy capric. he had 2 15 audioblowns in his trunk. 8 bullit tweeters in his rear dash. i mean this car i really think for the 10 second i had to listen to it really damaged my hearing.

oh tbspyder, u work at SA so u know about all the people who want to by EV for there car.

OK, new funny story as of today. So this ratty old POS van comes in to have us look at his deck. My install manager and start pulling it apart following wires. He goes to the side of the van and opens the door and all this shit falls out, including an open milk jug full of somethin quite interesting......PISS! This jug was almost topped off with the dirtiest, smelliest piss you've ever seen. So it spills all over the bay and onto him and he runs off gagging and throwing up. I look back laughing thinking it was just some junk that fell out and catch a wiff of the potent smell of urine and start to throw up myself. So after a lot of cursing and trying to keep our lunch down, we have our mobile manager call this guy and basically tell him he's a sick fuck and to not bring his van back until it's spotless. The guy comes in to get his van and is horrified..he trys explaining it by saying he travels across country and doesn't have time to stop....yeah right. This guy easily had 2 weeks worth of piss saved up in this jug, you're telling me he couldn't empty it at some point? Well, my install manager (the one who the piss spilled onto) was so pissed (literally) that he went home. Top that.

an old friend of mine named Fat Rob ( some people remmeber him 2 years back) Used to own a old box camary *sp?* He had 1 kicker 12" vr in a 5 gallon bucket that was liquid nailed powered by JUST the rampage hu he had installed that also ran 2 speakers in the rear deck. He sweared that it bumped hard

More recent stories with my new system include:

People who sit beside me at lights with systems bumping then I turn mine on and they roll their windows up

Mexicans in a van playing mexican music real loud with windows down. I do the same with rap and they all jus stare

Neighbors telling me to turn down my bass in the neighbor hood, which I do but I guess they can hear me coming down racetrack road before I enter ( I turn off the system before I enter my hood)

My biggest pet peeve is when people sit in parking lots and bump their systems. Once I went into wal greens and someone sat in the front of it blaring their system in a little civic. When I returned to my vechicle I did a very slow "Bass drive by" and they all jus stare with that blank stare

i love the people that come in with no speakers and want to replace their radios, and when they leave they wonder why theres still no sound.
