Ever since I got my 4 channel amp, When I turn the car on, there is a loud pop noise right as it all gets power, does anyone know what this could be from? its annoying and sometimes its pretty loud and i dont want to blow a speaker by it.

Is your remote turn on lead run to the back of your deck or to an accessory?

an accessory I believe. Does that make a differance?

Yeah, it can. You really need to run it to the remote turn on of your deck if you can, or atleast a different accessory lead.

Ok, today i moved my remote to the back of the head unit and it STILL pops really loud. I dont have a clue why its doing it, I have done plenty of other amps and they never have a problem.. both amps do it, so its the subs and the other speakers.

Any Ideas????

turn the ignition to accessory with car off, turn your HU off. Is the amp still on?

if the amp is on then your HU is not turning the amp off and the pop is the deck sending a voltage spike.
if the amp is off then turn the HU on and see if you get the pop.

if you get the pop then either
1. your hu is pretty old(or cheap) and doesnt have a soft on(delayed preamp power/amp power)
2. your amp is pretty old(or cheap) and pops when it powers on

hope that helps

the amp isnt always on.. and my amp is a mtx 1004, biggest 4 channel mtx makes and my head unit is an alpine 9807 (300 bucks new) i dont think its due to cheap equipment

and my subs never popped untill i added the other amp, now they pop with the speakers.. So i dont think its a cheap amp or HU

no I am using all 3 of the HU outputs, amps are only connected by the remote. But right now there are no subs in, just reg speakers

im out on a limb, but three amps off a 500ma remote might cause probs. I'm gonna be fiberglassing all day tomorrow with friends, if your in palm harbor(near us19) and got free time come over so we can look at it.

you need to add a relay to the turn on lead... so that the hu turns on the relay... then the relay passes 12v from a disto block or the battery to the remotes on each amp and accessories like EQ, Dsp, dvd etc..... what this does is gives you the delay and with the full 12v and what ever amperage needed for two different amps to turn on at the same time eliminating popping.... any shop should be able to do this...if not I will help ya.... send a pm
