I've never seen/heard any eclipse units but know they are supposed to be good. So are they as good as people say and if so how come they don't allow internet sales or many people to sell them? Is there a dealer nearby? Also, how hard is it to get ahold of different units? I am looking into an indash dvd monitor from them but they have separate components like tv tuner and voice activation and stuff but it would suck not being able to find any deals on any of it and having to pay full retail for everything I want. Just looking for peoples feel on the brand in general as well. Thanks. Oh and I am looking into the AV3423.

Yes, theyre excellent. Most high end companies do not allow online sales, its the lower end companies that usually don't put restrictions on it. FYI, Alpine (except Crutchfield), Arc, Diamond, DEI, Eclipse, Focal, JL, MB Quart, Nakamichi, PPI, Rainbow, Soundstream, Zapco....all companies that do not allow online sales. Yes there are places that sell them online, but not only do you risk warranty, you never know where the product came from, i.e. stolen, refurb, non authentic. Not trying to burst your bubble as I love ebay too, just laying out the facts.
As far as your other question, yes, Audio Itch sells them...Dale Mabry at Cypress. But unless you know people, I doubt you will get a good deal at any shop.
In general, if youve gotta buy at a store, Eclipse is worth the money IMO.

Well I can get a used AV3423 for $800 shipped but in mint condition. How does that sound? Heres a link to where it can be seen at:
http://www.eclipse-web.com/index_av.html
See the thing is I want to add navigation later and I can't find a nav. unit on their site. Plus adding things like a TV tuner, cd changer, etc seem pretty expensive and hard to do with no one hardly selling online to lower prices.
Well does anyone know why their site is so vague? It gives so little info on products its hard to tell what does what. Thanks again.

if u buy the eclipse unit on line there will be no warranty through eclipse or at least when i used to sell them that was what i was told through from the rep. if u wan eclipse go to itch and talk to andy or dean and tell them that pete with the white integra with the audio pipes told u to talk to them not for nothing it might help.

Nah, buying local is just asking to pay more, about double actually. If the unit has a warranty left I should still have it buying it slightly used, correct? And if I heard right all eclipse products have a 3 year warranty.
Now is there anywhere online where I can actually read up on their products? Their site doesn't say anything about their navigation unit(s) that I can find.
Eclipse decks have great sound quality, but don't expect all the bells and whistles. They focus more on the sound quality.

the 3 year warranty only applys to if u buy the product from an atherized dealer. when u send in the warranty card u have to site the sales slip and where u bought the product from.

So would you guys suggest the eclipse 3423 for $800 or would you go for a pioneer avx-p7300dvd for $600? Both used and in good condition.

Well I called audio itch and they said theres no navigation unit to be hooked up to the av3423 anymore so if I go with that one I have like no option of getting navigation in the future. I am also looking into the kenwood because their add-on navigation unit is like $700 and I can get a brand new KVT-715DVD for $900 with the manufacturers warranty. What would you guys go with?

I'd take the Pioneer over Kenwood...just seems to be a bit better quality to me.

Even though its the older unit from pioneer? The kenwood picture just seems to look so much better from what I've seen. I definitely like pioneer HUs myself, just the kenwood seems alot more up-to-date than that model pioneer.

All the Kenwood indash units (and even alot of their decks) just seem to feel "cheap" to me. And I absolutley hate their controls.

i really dont like ether of the choices but i would go with the pioneer. save up and try to find a used alpine IVAD900 for like 1200.

Well things that matter to me:
-plays mp3s,dvds, dvd-rs, cd-rs, etc
-Siruis (or XM I guess) ready
-touchscreen and a good picture
-remote
-can hook up navigation later and not for another $1000+ hopefully
-good audio to control/tune my system
Now that eclipse doesn't make any remote mount navigation units I guess I can't go with that. That Pioneer model is too old for me I guess, because I'm just not feeling it; plus its not satellite radio ready. So, Pioneer > Kenwood ?

I guess I'll stick with trying to find a deal on the avic-n1.

1 i dont think the kenwood plays dvd-rs but on that i could be mistaken
2 i think the keenwood is sirius ready
3 touch screen and good screen quality is an oxymorron, when u have a touch screen it bring down screen quality. if u want the best screen quality, touch screen is not the way to go.
the avic-n1 is a good all around unit, but i still like the ivad900 by alpine. but if u get the N1 its a good choice

Eclipse rocks... sounds awesome, very true.. 3 year warranty through eclipse. No built in Sirius or xm.. the unit i have is rather limited in the bells and whistles dept but makes up for it in sound and product quality.. :)
BTW there are several NAV units for the 3423 on ebay as we speak... I was considering getting it. But i may be selling my car and getting another motorcycle in the next 3 weeks.. So i may actually be selling my Eclipse unit and audio equipment.
