View Full Version : Help me out here guys:
Sup TR members.
I'm gonna purchase Tokico Shocks for 1988 Supra Turbo (MKIII) I'm not sure what's best for my supra. There are two different shocks and they are gas shocks and adjustable shocks. Which one is better?
Well, my Supra setup is daily drive and street race. Any answer from ya pros that be great. I want to know by tonight so I can purchase it. I trust ya Toyota Tech.

If all you are going to do is "street race", you don't really need to worry about adjustability.

Yeah.. just get the non-adjustables if you only have the car for street driving.. Money in ur pocket.
Well actually I needed shocks for my supra and I just brought a set of springs from my brother. I want a good brand of shocks before I place my springs. So since I'm not going to place a order on the adjustable shock, do you recommend the gas shock from Tokcio?
My shocks on my supra is really badd.

Im running the tokico illumina 2's if your car has TEMS, or the sports package then I say get the Ill 2's they are automatically adjusted by the actuators on the strut mount. My current setup is tokico Ill 2's and eibach and i like the ride very much and after ~60mph the setup goes to full auto firm and the ride is great, as well as in cornering and when stopping very rapidly...
let me know if u need any more help

Okay, my Supra is a sport package that comes with TEMS, LSD, Super Monitor. But my TEMS don't work and I have no clue what's wrong. I brought it was like that. Since my TEMS doesn't work right now does it mean that I cannot get the Illumina II? Or should I just stay with the gas shock from Tokico? I have no clue...
Help me out here Ian?

try to diagnos the problem with the TSRM http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/fa/FA_29.html
check your TEMS computer and make sure all the connections on there are ok, or just check to make sure the actuators are actually plugged up. If you cant fix it I say go w/ the gas shocks, unless you want to want to dial your suspenssion in with the manual ones...
hope this helps you bit, the TEMS is nice and if you can keep it more power to you. :P

Alrighty I will check the connection if they are in. If the TEMS works then I will go for the Illumina II. If not I have no choice but gas shocks. Alright Ian Thanks for your help and I apperiate your time and reply. Also, someday we can meet up? Do you locate in Clearwater area? J/W. But Thanks anyways.
