:wtf:Ok how many of you have blown up the KA in your 240. The reason I'm asking is that I've gone through 3 KA24E's in less that a year and I'v noticed a trend that every one has blown after the chain guide failed, even if I replace the chain guide right when it breaks within like 3000mi the #3 rod starts knocking. If any one else has this problem please tell me because I'm starting to think I'm cursed or some thing.

no this time it was in my drive way but it was pretty explosive ie 2 holes in oil pan 1 hole in the block piston in 11 chunks that i found rod in 5. it was pretty sweet. I should have some pics up soon cause the damage is like nothing I have ever seen.

how about no twin cams cost a good bit more than a single cam and I am a broke ass mother.

Oh and also why go through all the trouble of a swap just to put a twin cam ka in it and gain like 10 hp that doesen't make any sence it's like throwing money and time away

And going through three single cam motors in a year isn't throwing money and time away? :dunno:

The twincam KA is way way stronger than 10more hp.

My stripped 89 coupe has one of the only sohcs that hasnt blown up yet.. Its prob the fastest sohc around for having a stock exhaust wtih a fart pipe (compliments of bill). I can run 15.9. But against my PIG heavy not reliable HICAS the hicas pulled it on the highway.

Twincam > singlecam by WAY more than 10HP

its like 10 horsepower by nissans ratings. its like 35 horsepower to the wheels and 50 ft lbs of torque.

and its about 100k more miles in terms of reliability and 250 more hp worth of reliability.

I've gone through a KA but I believe its just rings. Just a little oil burnage James Bond style. All will be fixed soon enough however.

BTW: this is the DOHC one. UPGRADE to one, you'll be happier!

Am I the only one who loves the single cam? Mine has 150k miles on it and it runs like new. I mean, the only way i know my car is on when I'm stopped is from the rpm needle. Of course, it does help that I maintain the engine with oil changes, coolant changes, sensor checks/replacement, seafoam and I keep it hella clean. I drift the hell out of it too though. Maybe I got one of the only good ones. All I have is a header, test pipe, muffler and intake. I have pulled on many dohc 240's even with full interior. If I blow my engine I'll probably go for another single cam. Good luck with whatever you do.

I love my once cam, but it hates its life, tried to kill its self yesturday. Sucked a good portion of the wiring harness and vacum lines into the cluch fan. Then after I gave it emergency surgeory it decided to start bleeding oil out of the oil pressure sensor. :verysad: Other than that and the countless other attempts on its own life, I love him. :headbang:

Not swapping in a Double Cam after going through 3 single cams is like jumping in a pile with rednecks and having gay sex to stop the future. Durka?

Ok since no one has really answered my question, and this thread is starting to become a single cam vs twin cam thing, Im just gonna get rid of this thread friday afternoon.

i had 220k+ miles on my once cam until i finally got rid of it. blew a head gasket or head was worped. every couple days i had to retighten the head down. but through all the shit that its tried to do hurting itself, it never blew up on me. The water pump exploded and my mech fan blew to bits and put a huge mosquito bump on my hood. I think its all single cams that like to be badasses.

205k miles on my single cam..... still ticking.... although i dont think for very much longer, nothing is really 'wrong' yet but if you drove it you would know its on its last leg
