Default Econo Painting. .

Anyone ever take there car to Econo down on US19 by Mcmullen booth Rd.?

I wanted to know about what it would cost to paint a crx a differnt color. White is what is on there now. Its just a shell with a motor. The interior is striped out. Just thought maybe someone had a idea. Can't call them right now.

Actually, if you want to go Econo, go to the one at 9th and 9th in St Pete. Much better paint job. 894-0063, ask for Ed

For the price you will end up paying to have econo do what you are looking for, i.e. jambs, under hood, dent removal, more than a single stage paint you are better off taking the car by Randy's shop for an estimate. You may be suprized to find out that you will only spend a few more dollars to get a more thorough job done. Remember there is going to be a huge difference in price if you want the inner shell painted.

What color you think of going with?

Just for a heads up, my friend just took his car to econo and the engine was covered in over spray and his spoiler has drips all over it.

this is my "race shell" motor is getting pulled maybe? I doubt i will do that. Iam just tired of having white crx's all the time. Not looking to spend more then 500 on the paint. I was wanting to get the inside done. It would be a simple job because there is nothing inside but a alunium dash thats been fabracated and the del sol seats i can take out. Other then that everything is out of the car. Actually i might just spay paint the inside really nice and thats it.

I am wanting it to be black.

Dude i hate to break it to ya but you are barking in the wrong forest for what you are wanting and expecting. First off people do not want to do the inside of a shell not because there may be stuff in it, although that can be a part of it, the main reason is that it is an extreme pain in the ass to do. There is just no way to explain it to ya so you would understand, but if you ever saw someone painting the inside shell of a car you can bet on one of 2 things. One, that is the first time the painter has actually attempted to do such a job; or 2, the owner of the car paid big bucks to have it done. If you are able to watch the inside of a car be painted(taken all the way through prep to paint) you will apprecite the work it requires to do such a thing. It is nowhere as simple as it seems to those that do not paint.

For what you want done i don't think even econo would touch it. And that's not even including the inside. Your best bet for the inside is to use some quality high gloss spray bombs and take your time to do a nice job.

And black might not be the best color choice for you. If your only willing to spend 500 on a job you will have to expect to find imperfections that the painter will refuse to fix. Black shows everything and is a bitch to work with on a car.

Having said all that here's what you can do to save on some expenses to get you closer to your 500 $ mark.
1. Strip everything off the car you don't want painted. If something is covering something you want painted, take it out.
2. Take a red scotch brite(several) and scuff the hell out of the paint using soap and water. Rinse very well. ***If you are expecting body work to be done to the car don't bother with this step as it means nothing at this point. Unless you can do good body work on your car this will be wasted motion.
3. For 500 bones don't expect a great paint job.
4. For a paint job you can finish choose a color that is of the lighter shades, or pay a little extra and get some flake or metallic thrown on for the clear coats. Pay the extra money for extra coats of clear to be applied. After a good month of curing you can wet sand it with 2000 grit sand paper and buff it out. That will give you a very nice finish that you can live with.
5. If you are going to paint the inside of the shell do it BEFORE they paint you car and allow a couple weeks to cure before bringing it to them. Also, is you want the jambs done and your going black, you can paint the jambs yourself to save more money and to make everyones job easier(cheaper for you). Same goes for the engine bay.
