Default Stupid tranny Q

Heres a stupid question for everyone, What is the power capacity of the eclipse AWD 5 speed tranny in both HP and torque? I've been dreaming of a rather nasty mutant hybrid and think this tranny might work IF it can handle around 400hp. Also, how hard is it to change the gear ratios in these trannies if need be?

400hp with a "nasty mutant hybrid" is very sad. That's stock motor hp numbers right there with a 50trim and a mild street setup.

if its a 50 trim and a mild street setup then its not stock, is it? And that doesnt answer my question. By NMH I meant that IF I build this idea of mine, the tranny will be going into another brand that has AWD but the tranny in that car is SSSSOOO pathetic its unreal. Hence the need for facts and figures.

I said on a stock motor, not a stock setup. You can reach 400whp on a stock block, internals, head, cams 4g63t motor easily. Anotherwords there is no need to do a "nasty mutant hybrid" when you can do your goals on a STOCK MOTOR.

You will want a rebuild trans with atleast a double sinc. 2nd if you want to put down real horsepower.

Will the tranny be match up to a 4g63 or a different type of 4cylinder.

Nope, as I said before, I will be mixing brands. I am thinking of mating this tranny to a GM 3800 Supercharged Series 2. Please, no flame wars. So far its just an idea, no trannies have been hurt... yet. I already know theres to be alot of planning and adapters made and custom mounts/axles/ and all that shit.

How you do go about matching up the transmission to the block since its different bolt paterns. And what about the clutch/trans mating problems also.

People have put 1000hp threw a awd 1g tranny. Does that answer your question. 400hp is nothing.

That answers my question very well, Triple G. Thank you. Wow, 1G HP? These trannies must be DAMN reliable then, right? Assuming they were rebuilt correctly, of course.
4drwhore, Here again, the tranny can be mated to any motor with the use of PROPERLY designed adaptor plates. As far as clutch, flywheel differences, there are enough companies out there that make custom set-ups that I am not worried there.
