Ive been looking into autox for this past few days and I have a quick question.

I visited the sunriders site and it talks about the dues that are required and what not. To participate in the event do you have to be an scca member? It says to make sure to bring your drivers license, but doesnt mention anything about a scca member card.

If this is a stupid question I apologize.

Thanks

Nope, dont have to be a member, It makes events cheaper if you sign to become an SCCA member though. But I dont think it counts towards sunriders since they are the own little thing I believe. Loren can give more info on that part

To put it simply, not all autocrosses are run by the SCCA. There are at least 5 clubs I can think of in the area that put on autocrosses (SCCA, SunRiders, PCA, Gulfcoast, and Martin). NONE of those clubs require you to be a member of their club to participate in their regular events, though most of them do give a discount to their members.

So, if you want to come try it out, no membership required. If you get hooked, it's usually worth becoming a member to save a bit on entry fees. (of course, it's also good to get involved... autocross doesn't happen by itself)
