srt4 with just MBC in the 1/8 mile

Ran a 8.8@85 with the boost set at 15ish psi and 10psi at redline.
2.2 60ft. time.

04' with 5K miles and BONE STOCK besides the ebay MBC.

Is that good, bad, great, average.... I hate 1/8mile, I was only off Thursday and the other tracks were either closed or not doing public test N tune ( as far as I know ).

My best time was the same as a friends WRX that has power and suspention mods, but my MPH was 9-10mph faster, hehehe...

I'm truely impressed with the neon GLH, hehe.

Motor sounded like it was going to come through the fire wall, POS motor mounts....!!!

heres my reasoning, i do alot of modding on SRT4s and stock they only run 78-81mph in the 1/8 with an ET of 9.0-9.3. You are saying your car ran a 8.8 ET that i dont dispute its the mph that i do cause there are modded SRTs that dont even come close to 84-85mph 1/8 trap and run 8.8s-9.0s. If you dont mind post the slip please and i'll take back all ive said...but damn thats just way to hard to beleive. I know there are freaks out there but 84-85mph with just an mbc is umm not computing.

What color is your neon? I raced a black one at lakeland a couple weeks ago with only a boost controller and the best he got was 9.5, i beat it with my lil dsm

Wow, kinda weird, but I hadn't got any notices that anyone had replyed to this thread until today...

Anyway... I have the time slip, but no scanner ( or cd writer, or video watching, or music ), my PC is just for reading car stuff and e-mail kinda deal..

Honestly, I didn't think the SRT4 would have ran a 8.8 in the 1/8, and I've never raced at an 1/8 mile track before, so I wasn't sure what kinda MPH to expect.

Its clear as day on the slip 8.868 @ 85.87mph. The other times were (2) 8.9s, (2) 9flats, and (3) screw-ups that earned me 9.6s. Honestly I think the screw-ups were liquid on the track, but maybe that's just an excuse, either way it ran 9.6 3 times...

I bought the car on Jan. 18th and raced it on Jan. 27th. The time was 10:23pm. I saw the black SRT when I was there, but didn't see it run. I bought it with 4500 miles on it and raced it with 5160 miles on it.

The closest spark plug to the driver is also showing signs of burning or whatever ( as it has the white stuff on it ).

I don't have any of the other slips with me ( I keep my best time in my wallet ), but I'm pretty sure I stayed in the 84-85mph range all night.

Even though I've never been to a 1/8 mile, I go to BMS a lot, and I've had a wide range of cars ( 5.0, TT Stealth, turbo civic ) so I'd have to say I've "driven a little", but really MPH isn't really effected too much by driver, its basiclly power vs weight almost ( and a few other variables ).

If I were going to lie about what is done to the car, then I would have forgot the meantion the fact that it had a boost controller on it in the first place.. I did remove the stupid "pin-strip" that was on the car when I bought it...

I ordered a Stg2 with tuner toys, but its going to take 6 weeks !!! Right before it gets here, I have to take my wife to Tenn. to see family ( that's going to be the longest trip EVER !! ).

As far as putting the MBC on, I'd have to say its going to be a problem if you don't look on SRTforums and do the things needed to run one ( ED-tip mod, and finding a way to enrich PTB b/c it goes lean after 7psi and you can feel it "miss", its that bad ). A lot of people may tell you "its fine", but honestly I'm not in the mood to try and get a dealership to warrenty a motor I blew up being cheap, and the bottom line is, if you run a MBC without the 2 mods needed or without a stage1 PCM, then your going to run lean at anything over 7psi during PTB ( not to meantion get the "PTB code" ).

I have MBC set to 15psi max and failing to 10psi at redline now, but I don't daily drive the car, and when I do its either vaccum or WOT, b/c if you try to drive around using PTB, I fear that its causing some fairly good knock. Instead of fighting the ECU, I told my wife we could go on vacation in Tenn. if I could order the $1400 stage2 w/ toys.

I'd look into a stage2 used wastegate and a stage1 ECU ( and injectors if your running a 03' ).

I'll gamble with my $150 D16Z6 bottomend, but not my $5K A855 SRT engine, I bought the SRT4 to be fast and reliable and if that means leaving out the "cheap", then so be it. Besides, I get to be cheap with my civic all I want.

Here is my SRT4, it had 20% tint now, but still in the same "mod state" as it was when it ran 85mph.

I forgot to meantion that I took the MBC off the day after the "track day" b/c I was getting the PTB code and I didn't wanna screw anything up, but now I have the ED-tip mod, so no more CELs and I just stay outta PTB, but I wouldn't wanna drive the car this way forever ( or more than 6 weeks, hehe ). I'm prob. going to take th MBC off on the trip to Tenn. for better drivability... I'm going to be at stunt wars at lakeland dragstrip on Saturday if anyone wants to varifiy the time slip ( I'll be the ugly guy with the hot ass wife, hehe ).

NeonDan is being a little modest too, I've read about some of the "modding" you've done to some SRT4s. I wouldn't lie, I have no reason to, the car will be stage2 soon and will be even faster...

Aparently your the best SRT4 driver around... ( yea, I use the search button on SRTforums a lot too, hehe ).

I guess from the reaction, I'd have to say the neon did pretty good. Maybe so 1/4 mile times soon, or maybe not, the Stg2 kinda broke me...

Its not Sal's omni. It belongs to my friend Jordon. He has a 03' 1.8T VW ( porb. the cleanest car in Lakeland ).

I was bought from Mike in Hudson, and its proving to be a very durabable car. Jordon might condier selling it for $3500, but that's about it.

The Omni goes door to door with my SRT ( without the boost controller ).

The omni ran a best of 9.6 at Lakeland b/c the tires are like $50 tires and my friend isn't the most exp. driver in the land.

The omni will do at least 135 ( where Jordon gets too scared and lets out )
The SRT4 has seen 145 with 3 people and 150mph with 2 people.
The VW has seen 150 and 148 with two people.

Thats a pretty bold statement of being the cleanest car in lakeland. You have to take into consideration the two lambos, multiple vipers, turbo srt-10s, supras, and ford lightnings.

More than likely he's detailed a few of the cars your thinking about. His car is more than likely cleaner than any of them. Its pretty sick. He did Charley Jenkins S600 about a week ago...

I'd also have to agree that $3500 is alittle steep, but its really b/c he likes the car a lot and isn't going to get rid of it unless he's going to get a lot out of it.. But honestly, its the first turbo Omni I've ever seen and one of two that I've seen now, and one wasn't a real GLH-T, it was an 87' with a turbo1 motor swapped in it ( Owner's name is Lee ).

To be honest, I think for some reason Mike was "sandbagging" the Omni at the TR event. I saw one time it ran 14.2@67mph !!!! He's claim of blowing an IC pipe off also doesn't hold weight with me b/c Jordon hits 19psi in it everyday and hasn't had a pipe blow off ONE TIME yet. I thought he was sandbagging the car b/c it didn't have a roll-cage or b/c he didn't have a helemt ( roll cage is a little far, but still ). It was also on slicks at the TR event. For whatever reason, I'm glad Mike sold it to Jordon, its a sweet little Omni, and sandbagging or not, I know its pretty quick ( I'd say 12.9 with slicks and 25psi and race gas ).

Lee Saunders.....now theres a true Mopar guy...hes had/has his fair share of fast Dodges. I think cureently he owns an Eblue SRT4 w/ Stage2 , a Ram SRT10 that runs low 11s and a Viper GTS coupe that runs 10s aside from the rest of his collection.

I dunno bout the sandbagging...if he needed a helmet i could have gotten him one.

Yea, I knew about his car collection, but he just seemed like such a cool guy that I would have never known he had money, he was very cool to me mopar guy or whatever. Maybe I should get with him again, I wanna ride in his Stage2 SRT4 since I have 5 more weeks till mine gets here, then a week up north, then a few days before I'll have time to put it on... His stage2 prob. isn't just a stg2 though, its prob. stage2 with 20 other mods too.
His Omni ran 8.1@86mph, was automatic, had full interoir, and slicks.

I was told his SRT10 has a 175shot and on slicks ran 12.1. Color me un-impressed, but that's a truck so really don't get into them.

I was also told he has more than one viper and one can drive to BMS run high 9s and drive home, but I bet that's on slicks ( still sweet though ).

He was so down to earth, I don't care if he owned a colt, I'd still hang-out with him...

I guess I might have really got a "freak" SRT4. Last night I raced a friends 01' cobra. It has CAI, and dual 3'' exhuast and maybe a few other things. Here's some pics of the Cobra (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/maximum_rip/album?.dir=/3282)

He's not into racing at all, and he's about the worst driver I've ever meet, but I spanked his cobra in every way possible.

From a 15mph, 1st gear roll. Then a dead stop ( he has HUGE 12.5'' wide BFG KDWs too ). Then 2nd gear. And finally, the funnest of all. I let him pick the type of race and gave him the move everytime since he isn't a "racing every weekend" kinda guy. Anyway, the last race was from a 3rd gear roll at about 1500RPMs in my car and 2000rpms in his car. We both hit the gas and just looked at each other. Then the little turbo came on, and I just left him sitting there.... everytime we raced, just got raped pretty bad, the car is low milage and pretty clean, it was owned by a guy that was 40, and now my friend. I kinda lost a lot of respect for the pre S/C's cobras last night... Still just and MBC... This little SRT is really pissed off !!! Can't wait for stg2 and toys, hehe.

Yea that Jordon, but I guess you haven't seen Billys car lately... Jordon detailed before we went to books last Saturday, and its pretty ruff. There is a difference between tasteful small mods and having 200 TVs. Jordon's car easily ownz Billys now. I never saw Billy's car when it was "perfect". Maybe you guys have never compared the insides.

Jordon's car is sandstone grey. The other kid Cameron has one, but its been repainted, and is pretty beat already...

Lee is one of the most genuine guys you'll ever meet. His SRT/10 truck is very capable of high 11's. In fact, he broke out of class with a high 11 at the V10 Nationals last December. Good thing, 'cause I didn't wanna line up with him. He also tracks that truck with SAFE Motorsports.
