Just wanting to guage the local interst in having a drag class at a 1/4 mile strip for 4 cylinders. Like $30 tech card and $ or trophy payout. How many people would be interested in this. Let me know what prices sound good and what payoffs would be fair. I know there is a lot of 4 cylinder cars at the local tracks, lets get together and race!!!! Thanks for the read.

What drag strip are you going to have this show down at?
Are you going to organize it?
Where is the payout coming from?
These would be good guestions to address before you go getting everybody wound up about a track event.

If i was just gonna hold an event i wouldn't have called it gauging interest now would eye? I would have said hey everyone we are starting a 4 cylinder class, but that is not what i said. It is going to be a local 1/4 mile track. Payouts would be just like any other racing the more the pay in the more the payout. If the tech cards are 30 then maybe 200-300 for first. But all this depends on the number of attendies. If two hundred people put in 30 dollers then the winner is gonna get a lot more than $200. I just want to see if people are interested or not.

Have you even checked into track rental yet? Look Einstein it might be a good idea to say something like hey it will cost this much to rent this track. Therefore if there is X amount of people willing to participate I will set this up. Whose interested? Just trying to give you a little advice pal. What you do with it is up to you. BTW it's I not eye.

lol bret you should have just become a composition professor at SPC ;-) jk i dont see why we dont just have 4cyl showdowns at trackdays.. choose who u wanna run...
you are welcome to organise this through our track events.. why go out of the way to organise your own when we have them 3 to 4 times a year already.
If you'd like to organise a small 4 cylinder competition at one of our events.. send me a PM with some details and we can get something set up. We can possibly get some prizes organised.
If you do PM me about this.. be sure to have your ideas ready.. ie just HOW you want the format o run.. rules etc etc.

I did write a pretty mean paper back in the day. Besides I chose all my races at the last track day. I have a 4 cyl. He could challenge me.

its a good idea at heart but you may as well just hand the money over to qitstrn or 60-1ek. I dont think there are any other 4 cyl around here that are near those two.

Ok thanks everyone for your replys. I guess i got the answer. There is not near enough people interested in this to make a 4 cylinder class at any track. Sad! I thought by the number of people I seen at local track that a lot of people would be interested but I was way wrong. Thanks for the comments.
edit:
I think now i may have been missunderstood or poorly stated my intentions by the replys i have read. I was not talking about a one time track rental for a 4 cylinder shoot out. I was talking about the interest in having 4 cylinder class's added right next to pro-stock, jr dragster, and the other class's currently ran at tracks. So every weekend you could head to the local track you went to anyhow but run for trophies or cash like every other type of race car does. Why should v8's be able to run for cash and prizes every weeked but not 4 cylinders?? Sorry for my poor clairification in what i was gauging interst in. :bbb:

There are 4 cyl's running for money every weekend at several tracks all over the country. However these are owned by people who have cars fast enough to compete in a 10 1/2 in tire class. You see the 4 cyl in most cases has a hugh weight difference and when built right can compete. RWD that is. I think what you are trying to accomplish is more suited for a stock "FWD" class which I do not think you have enough pull, namesake, or money to accomplish. Look I'm not trying to bust on you I just think you are looking for something that is not going to happen anytime soon.

I think he is referring to a bracket racing class for sportsman (foot brake) imports.
We helped start a Corvette challenge race at BMP. It is a bracket event for foot brake cars, corvettes only in this case. The races are the 3rd Sat of the month and there is no payouts to keep the cost down and participation up. It's for points and bragging rights. It's really something you all should try. Fastest car doesn't garauntee a win, it takes driving skill and being very familiar with your car.
