Default heads on a 305 Chevy?

What are the differences between the heads for a stock chevy 305 and 350? Are there any easy ways to tell which ones are which while they are on the motor?

The major difference in 305/350 heads are the combustion chambers. the 350 heads have 72 CC chambers and the 305 heads have 58 cc chambers. The 205 heads also have some differences in the port passages that restrict airflow.

No you don't have to pull them. Just get the casting number off the head and look them up.

Pull the valve cover and look at the casting #. Then head on over to www.mortec.com and cross reference the number with what's on there. It's pretty easy to decode heads. Now whether or not they're stock is a whole different animal.
