i dont want this to be a battle between who hosts events or the price... my question is simply what track do people prefer to drive on? lakeland speedway or ocala? and state why...
honestly i think i like lakeland because it goes bit faster, but then again ocala is also now using that oval...
any input?

Ocala is a NICE facility
Lakeland is Cheaper
Ocala is a bit pricey
Ocala is a Drive
There was mention of Ocala doing evening events
They both have their ups and downs..

what about track lay out... anyone prefer one over the other? one thing i keep on reading is that people want to run tracks backwards... i know lakeland allows you to and ocala is still debating whether or not to do it...

Ocala is Perfect. There are LEFT and RIGHT hand turns. It's more challenging for those wanting to combo the whole course, but easy enough for those that are new.
Lakeland is okay at first, but grows old fast. It's all left hand turns. While evening events seem like a great idea....I wonder how the lighting is in the in-field.
Regardless.....
I think Ocala is 100x's better, and until further notice, I will not be attending Lakeland events.

I like lakeland more because its wider. you can have more fun with it. get out there, have a blast, make the crowd go wild. that's a ton of fun for me at least. oh and you can tandem. sure its riskier but they have an ambulance there !!!
each one is different. i think everyone should do the lakeland at least once to try it out. it's not for everyone, but for those that know how to drive you can have tons of fun.
And for those that dont' like doing left turns, drive the other way and you have a whole bunch of right turns!! :-)
lakeland.
people who are scared of their cars like ocala.

lakeland=cheap price and fast drifts.
ocala=better layout and more technical.
In other words,
I think ocala is for more advanced drivers if you want to go fast. There's alot of different ways to drive it. If I could afford ocala I'd go there all the time.
And lakeland is alot like a parking lot hang out. The cool vibe that seems to exist at there is half of what makes it cool. The other half is the assload of seat time you get for next to nothing price.

from what i am hearing people say its boring to watch cars at lakeland and that they say its better to watch at ocala... in my opinion i think you are actually farther away from the cars at ocala therefore not giving you a nice spot to see... but at lakeland all spots are awesome and i think the fact that you are at a speedway just makes it all the better to watch... specially since it will be night time... thats just me though...

EXACTALY!!
well since i haven't driven at lakeland yet i can't say which is better, but i did drive at a speedway similar to that down in miami at hialeah speedway. i like ocala alot now more than ever cause we can use the whole track. lakeland does look like it will get boring real fast especially in my ka where my foot would be planted to the floor the whole time. hehehehe maybe with power its a different story. i say there is no better. Both are better in different ways so its all into which one you like yourself.
DRIFTING IS DRIFTING AND IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WERE!!!

perfect ................
notice : i had alot of fun at each event , both provided me with their own pro's & con's.
Both events were organized well and the entire drift community ,
both racers and spectators ,helped to overshadow any concerns
and created a really fun event.. but i think ocala has enough features and benefits to be my favorite .
i try to attend every event possible and i hope in the future
we will have more than two tracks to compare . imo.. unozbich

Ocala is much better. If I wanted to drift U-Turns I would go out side my house and drift all I want for free. But I want a nice track with nice turns, and the best we have right now for that is Ocala.
you have turns at your house that are top of second gear? where do you live! if anythign ocala has the "u turns" with the tight radius corners designed for go karts.

I havent driven at Ocala
But what happenes when someone hits a wall or hits someone else and really gets hurt.
I'd rather play it safe and pay more for an insured event.
lakeland=cheap price and fast drifts... DRIVERS WHO THINK THEY'RE GOD....and get hurt
ocala=better layout and more technical.....INSURED
but hey what ever works for you. I like Ocala. =)

lol i think u got it mixed up, u meant u have never driven at lakeland ;-)
as far as hitting other people? its kind of hard to do that at lakeland considering all the flag people and videographers are standing behind numerous secured highway dividers....
as far as spectators all of them are faaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from any action , the rest are in the stands watching down on the speedway...
hitting walls... at the speeds we are goign its going to be kinda tough to really hit it and eff up your car... i gave it a love tap last time... you are goign to mess up your car before your self hitting a wall at lakeland.. but what do i know i am not intentionally trying to hit it....
ocala has DEEEEEP declines at certain points... beleive me i know lol ive been down there... also has poles... same obstacles you can hit... i dont know about this insurance crap or whatever but i dont think lakeland would allow "driftign" at their venue without some sort of insurance set up... but what do i know...
at lakeland you can also choose to not drift the turns where one might encounter contact with the wall... hitting the wall then is up to the driver...

point is, it depends on what you are driving for.
A. technicality; practicing on a variety of turns & adapting different entry speeds, lines, exits, and different levels of control at different speed. ability to practice linking different turns!
ocala > lakeland
B. legal drifting, smokeshow, and higher speed stuff with emphasis on staying not dead
lakeland = ocala
C. cheap seat time
lakeland > ocala
D. Driving experience, skill polishing
ocala > lakeland
overall, i'd pick ocala anyday. i want to become a more skilled driver, and while lakeland is amazing fun it only gives you experience in one kind of turn. however, every driver could use some higher speed experience and lakeland is a good venue to hammer it into your brain, since it is all you do. I think it is good to be well rounded, so it is good to go to both, but if i had to make a decision i would chose ocala.
if you want high speed go to homestead

Ya.
But I can't guarantee you won't hit a curb. But hey I would rather hit a curb than a wall any day.
