Change out the rear end- with different gears. My dad had the 318 and it was still SLOW

gears wont do anything. except waste money. im guessing you have a 04 ram by your info. are you wanting more power for fun or purpose? once you get that figured out. then choose which way you want to create boost. i know they make a turbo and blower kit for that motor. i would go roots style supercharger. but if money is a issue and it usally is. just slap a nice intake and exhaust on it. i have a 04 ram with the hemi and i put a borla leg spreader exhaust on it. and i just put a AEM Brute Force intake on it!!!! im not sure aem makes one for you motor but im sure you can find a company that makes a descent one.

Well i have a boat and when i tow it I get horrible gas mileage and i think if i slap on that turbo it should help out the hauling lag??? You know approx what it would run for the ram and wher i could find it?

well turbo lag is a bitch thats why i said roots sc. because the supercharger only needs a thousand or so rpm to create full boost ( depends on how much your running of course ). so the main thing is vacuum pressure. turbo would be fun, but a sc is more useable. i tow a boat with my truck but mines only a 14' none the less still creates work for the truck to do on a incline ( going up the ramp ) so in short it sounds like a sc is the way to go. check and see if they make intake and/or exhaust for your truck. and also a turbo will give even worse gas mileage. more air = more gas. so lmk what you want to do. i knoiw lots of people that will hook you up on prices on parts or install or whatever. peace

thats the best solution but not the most practical.

If you want to pace yourself and get some of the basic stuff before a supercharger, here is a list that won't break the wallet..
As an FYI...I have an F150 so the HEMI engines maybe a little different, but probably not..
-- between $100 - $400
1) cold air intake
2) better/bigger throttle body <--recommend if you do some head work...match it up to a Port/Polish....very nice
2) headers
3) catback exhaust
4) better thermostat <-- not really performance, but helps out the engine...
5 a) Chip (Superchip, Diablo, etc.) <-- get this done pretty much last so that you can get it programmed to the "T"
or
5 b) Programmer (Hypertech, Diablo, etc)
6) Dual Electric fans <-- I would recommend this if you have a clutch fan, helps out a lot in the summer time and your engine is not driving that fan weight (trust me, those clutch fans weight a lot)
7) Under drive pulleys <-- some people argue about the help this has, but personal experience, it helps the engine work better and I notice the increase power off a dead stop. But, if your going supercharger, don't get this... your probably going to have to replace...depends
-- between $400 - $800
1) Head work (port / polish)
2) 3 angle valve job <-- five is nice, but not for the extra money
3) gears <--nice, but depends on what you want to do with your truck (i.e, street performance, hauling stuff in the bed, etc.)
Just keep in mind, the above is not going to give you the feel of a supercharger. And, if you do the above slowly, you may not even feel the change because it is going to be subtle... but if you dyno stock and dyno when you have everything, you will see the difference...
I don't know the policy with this site (about suggesting other sites), but if they don't like this, please delete the reference...
but if you go to www.troyerperformance.com you will see some of their performance packages. I would suggest looking there to get a good idea of how much HP you will get with various performance pieces. I have used them for a few years with my F150 and Mike Troyer, is by far the most knowledgable person for, at least, fords that I know.
Anyway, hope this helps..
EDIT: I just checked the site, and there is no Performance Packages outside of Fords...but take a look anyway. I am sure that their suggestions about the Ford engines apply to HEMIs. An engine is an engine (make them breath better, burn fuel efficiently, and your increasing HP & Torque)

sorry that i couldnt reply but I just got out of jail... Thanks for the feedback... I might just do the basic exhaust and intake for now.. but Ive looked for an intake for my 6 banger and cant find it? Any suggestions wher i can find an intake?? and what brand intake would be the most efficent??? and iam prob. going with a dual turndown flowmaster......

funny. i have the aem on mine but let me do a little research and see who makes one for your motor. i dont recommend the flows but if thats all you can afford then go for it. i recommend the borla!

How do you like that aem... i was going to put an AIR RAM intake on my 05 qc hemi, but like you i must pull... I have 730 miles on the truck, and im getting about 15.7 mpg so far, hows it do in your truck.. mine is also a 4wd hemi, with the 20s and the lsd 3.92 gears...
thanks

I agree. You want more power, buy a FORD.
Time for a search online for the 440 motor. Rebuild it, and add a 100 shot.
Done.
I saw that setup in a 85 Ramcharger 4x4 with 44" swampers (not a small vehicle) run a 12.6 in the 1/4... It was as redneck as one could get but would spank most cars that tried to pull on it... hahaha
I just picked up an '04 Hemi Ram myself, looking into the usual I/H/E. I sorta like the factory looking K&N kits and might pick one up. Dynatech headers and Gibson exhaust seem to be the favorites. Any input?

Blue oval can suck on my cock.... My dad and my lil brother have those piles of shit and they both hate them. They look like shit and the perform like shit.. My 6 banger ram could fuck an f-150 up the ass anyday... TRY ME

Nothing wrong with turbo charging it. Actually with the proper setup turbo lag will be non-existent especially while towing something. RPM does not determine boost level, LOAD does.

Just put a dual flowmaster on it... sounds great but not that much more power... If I trade it Id loose about $6,000... Im not that ballin to do that... Unless someone wants to buy it for $23,000 to pay it off
get rid of it and buy a Lightning.....
