i was thinking of going to my original idea of 3 10w7's on 3 500/1's instead of 2 13w6v2's with 2 500/1's.
any opinion on which set up would be best for spl compatition? and i know 3 10's is stock 2 in iasca does any one know what class 2 13's would be?
thanks,
Rickie

i heard that the w6v2 were better for spl set ups, and the w7 for a sq. I'd say go with the pair of 13w6v2's

ok lets put another option in the mix what about 3 10w6v2's on 3 500/1's?
just another option for the w6 over w7 believers.
so 3 10's or 2 13's?

Lets ask this

Are you going more for a SPL or SQ set up?

Do you like nice tight bass or loud boomy bass?

What kind of car is this going in?

looking for spl. lots of loud boomy bass and it is going in my 03 mazda protege5 which is a 5 door hatch.

kpr10is did you mean 2 13w6v2's or 3 10w6v2's?

go 2 13w6v2's. More cone area and bigger subs tend to get louder and deeper which is what your looking for. Also in a hatch its going to be better because there is nothing blocking you from the speaker box ie. back seats and nothing to cause a bunch of rattle like a sealed trunk would in say a mustang or civic

yeah i have 1 13w6v2 on a 500/1 right now and it hits hard. i wanted to upgrade but i thought 1500 watts on three 10's might be louder than 1000 on two 13's.

ok john two 13w6v2's on two 500/1's or three 10w6v2's on three 500/1's?
obviously the two 13's would be cheaper since i already have one on a 500/1 so i would need one more and one more amp vs 3 10's i would need two more amps.
also john i am selling my xr three way coponants and going with the zr 6.5 coponants which will be alot easier to install and hopefully keep up.

I personally think the 3 10w6's would be louder than 2 13w6's only because you're looking at more power and more cone area which means more air is going to be moving. Have you bought an amp for your components yet? What are you doing in the rear?

no i havnt bought an amp yet as since they arent in yet what do you recomend?
i havent really thought about the rear yet but i am open for suggestions

i think the best thing for you to do would be to get another 13w6v2, and another 500/1 because it would save you money, and would still sound awesome.

Well, the ZR's will hold up to about 175 rms per side...so in order for you to have a chance of them keeping up with the subs you're probably going to want to go with any amp that comes pretty close to that number.

300/2?
what about rear?

300/2 would work....but the 450/4 would be better ;) It's an expensive amp, but you have to take into consideration what you're saving by going with one set of components in the front rather than 2...which allows you to compensate somewhat. And then I'd put atleast the XR coaxials in the rear...otherwise another set of ZR's if you have the cash. That and the 3 10w6's would probably give you one of the best sounding systems around town.

i will definatly have you do my system either on the side or through the store. i have finally found some one that understands and agrees with me. that is important to me for who ever does my system.
and i was looking at the 450/4 if i do rear speakers.
