Well, I'm planning on buying a new clutch some time soon (I hope). My car is used mostly for drift, but I will also be doing some drag racing. Just curious as to what clutches are recommended. Right now I have a Spec II (that mostly sucks) with a Jun lightened flywheel.

Thanks!

I personally am hooked on ACT stage II organic clutches and Heavy Duty pressure plates. They have served me well in the past, but I have not had the chance yet to put one on the 240 so...:dunno:

Could you guys possibly include approximate pricing on these as well? If not, I can look it up.

So far everyone seems to have different opinions other than two for HKS Triple.

ACT HDSS... same one u can get from like enjuku and heavy throttle.. its the common act clutch... has awesome foot feel and GRABS! $360 not bad at all that is what i switced to and that is what i recommend.

Meh, I would still do a spec. they came out witha new drift specific clutch that might be good to work.

Depending on how your flywheel looks when we pull the clutch apart, it may be time to get rid of the flywheel and get a new setup.

Exedy has a beautiful hyper single setup that replaces the clutch/flywheel/ everything as well...

We will have to see how everything works out once we remove it.

I don't really want to do a spec, I don't think, for the money. I hope I don't need a new flywheel also! *sigh* money. Maybe I'm opening a can of worms I shouldn't just yet.

i know im doing exedy hyper single, one my random clutch goes. But if you already have the jun flywheel I would keep with that and a nice ACT clutch, or Exedy clutch without the flywheel. I NO LONGER RECOMEND SPEC, there customer service sucked, when I told them i would send back the clutches so they can inspect it to see what their problem is and fix it. And I have now used both their spec 2 and 3 which have both failed on me. Not only that, but some of their throw out bearings have been having problems. Spec gets a big thumbs down from here.

It's hard to hate on the spec when there's people like John and Scott out there who have ran their cars into the absolute ground and have had no problems iwth them whatsoever. Then there are people with the stock clutches that have held 350whp, and there are people with spec stage 2's that have slipped.

There are only a few ways I would run a spec clutch in an SR now..

1) Run the Non sprung hub. this will prevent it from throwing a spring.
2) Break it in properly , this means heat it up,a ndt hen let it cool down properly, not just drive it nicely and then beat on it. this is a common misconception.

FYE, the enjuku drift cars will be running spec clutches, either a 10.5 inch monster super single plate, or a custom all billet twin plate unit. =)

So Matt, are you saying I should get a SPEC III? And you're the one that told me how to break in my car. ;)

I think the spec D1 clutch is what you should look in to . i'll tell you more about it when we release it.

as much as scott and john beat on their cars, I dont see them clutch kicking, anytime soon.

I havent seen either of them "beat on their cars"

From what I understand Scotts car is sitting, Engine in his kitchen.
And johns car.. well thats a "SHOW CAR" Trailor queen.. what have you.

Hows that JUN flywheel doing you Ragina ?

The flywheel is awesome. I guess I'll see the condition when things are taken apart.

Yes Jonas, mostly drift but some drag racing.

not sure what the power ratings are for the SR (i know theyre higher per stage), but the RPS Max Street clutch, full-face disk version looks pretty nice. I'll be running that on my car most likely, its rated at 400 tq on the KA and i think like 500 for the pucked version. They're big names over in the Supra world for drag racing (unless you can afford a big baller Tilton $$$), hopefully it will hold up to some drifting/harsh daily fun. The full face is like $360-ish.

Good luck to whatever you choose.

i love the nismo clutch matt gave me. i beat the absolute piss out of it and its held and never sliped. and its good on engagement too. the pedal is a little on the stiff side, but not sure if its stiffer than a spec. i had two of these but sold one. i put it in right before dday 1 and i looked at it when i put my new motor in and it still looked like new and this was like 4 months ago or soo!! i would recomend this clutch to anyone. i've drivin some sr's with spec's and didn't really like the clutch that much.

Hah, yes stock Nissan pressure plate off an SR is acutally stiffer than a spec pressure plate...WTF m8^^^

bill doesn't have a stock pressure plate, he actually has the updated part number by unisia.

Thank you very much. My car is probably making 250whp and not much different tq. My clutch is rated at like 350whp, so I'm not really paying that much attention to what the clutch is rated at. My clutch still sucks regardless of the power I'm making and what it's rated at. :(

Doesn't matter how stiff the pedal is. I can handle it. ;) That sounds great for drift since all I can do is clutch kick. hahaha. but my clutch started slipping during drag racing, not drift.

Thanks to everyone that has given me suggestions! I appreciate it.
