ka24de swap won't start
Got this from www.srswap.com
This is what id does.
Cranks, has spark & fuel - either just cranks, or catches but won't run
What I should do.
Check Timing, Crank Angle Sensor could be misaligned. Engine could be flooded, check spark plug for raw fuel.
since i got this info off srswap.com, does the KA have a crank angle sensor?
How do I check timing, and where is the crank angle sensor. The engine cranks, has spark, and fuel, it just wont freaking start. I checked the plugs and they have fuel on them. how long should I wait to start again. and need to know how to check timing and where the crank angle sensor is or any other suggestions? Im swapping from a sohc to dohc on my 89 nissan 240sx

yes your timing might be waaaaay off on the distributor.
did you ever pull the distributor out?
did you ever pull the distributor out?

if the distributor was out of the motor, set the motor at top dead center... either by the timing marks on the crank pulley.
tdc should be the second to last, going counter clockwise.
or, stick a ratchet extension, or something that will hit the piston, pull the spark plug out of #1, and watch until it reaches the top.
that is top dead center.
look at the distributor cap, find #1, when the motor is at tdc, the rotor should point to number 1.
youll most likely have to install and remove the distributor a few times until its right, because of the way the the gears on the distributor mesh.
also, there is no crank angle sensor on a ka, the sr uses a crank angle sensor, since it doesnt have a distributor, and uses coil packs.

If I'm not mistaken, there are 2 TDCs per cycle. So, if it doesn't work, turn the motor to tdc, pull the dist, and then turn the crank 360 degrees back to tdc. Reinsert the distributor as described above.

Yea , there is a compression stroke adn the exhaust stroke ...
Be sure you have TDC on the COMPRESSION stroke ..
A easy way to do this is put a compression tester in the # 1 cylinder then turn it till it begins to make compression , then turn it back to TDC from there and your set .
