will I need one? How hard is a capacitor to install? Can I wire up my sub/amp and then add capacitor later without ripping whole interior of car out again? Thanks.

there not hard to install .....charge it... wire it ... and good to go you want the wire to be real close to your amp the less travel the power has to go the better

yeah you can install it down the road. you just tap into your power wire to the amp

I've yet to see a worthwhile noticeable difference in performance when a cap is used. I personally wouldn't bother unless you run across one at an inccredible deal. In more cases than not however, a better battery, bigger alternator, and/or line driver are the best way to go.

I may have to get a bigger alternator, but that pulls more hp away from car right?
Thank you guys for helping keep me from wasting money.

Not too sure about any negative affects on performance caused by a larger alternator. What size amp(s) are you using and what makes you think your factory electrical system will be insufficient?

Not using an amp yet. I put ASP underdrive pullies on my car and was having problems, car wouldn't hold enough of a charge at night with lights on and radio going and ac. My headunit is a pioneer. Well, I upgraded to an overdrive alternator pulley and things are good now, just curious if things are gonna be bad again when I put the sub and amp on

Sounds like you're in a bit of a bind. The car audio and performance world don't usually mix too well. If your problem is that serious though, you're definetly going to want to look into an alternator upgrade....a cap just isn't going to cut it.

cap wont cut it in ur situation here, its just going to add another load onto your battery thus causing it to go dead quicker. basily a cap is a small battery that discharges power very quickly and rapidly
get a bigger battery or alt

I agree with the yellow top idea. Also consider doin the big three. I have never beleived in using caps. There more of just a look good type of ornamet, they really dont do much. Its just another device your car has to charge.

IMO, a good system is 75% install, 25% equipment. And caps are not advertised to have any effect on lights dimming....that's not what they're sold for at all.

Choosing the right equipment combinations, speaker locations, wiring, sound dampening, enclosure, etc..
Actually, I saw this guy on another forum awhile ago who would take even a low end sub (ie, a single rf punch 12) and hit 145-155dbs.. His enclosures were far from average however. He's a big name in the audio world....can't remember all the specifics though.
