So the fact that youre getting 11hrs of track time plus it's roughly 1/2 the cost of a ******** event gets totally thrown out the window because it's Hialeah??? Yea, its not a great track but it's nowhere near as bad as Erik would have you believe, plus the event is run by some of the nicest people around.

One of the best drifters on this board, John Hatton, or 'Neurovish' has been there many times and likes it. Don't run the big turn if you don't want to but if you drive conservatively and hold the inside line it's not bad. The top 3 drifters down here would smoke anyone on this board except maybe the top 3 and it's because of lots of practice time.

Wow, that censored word would be 'D-G-Trials'

So yea, like 1/2 the cost of their events.

I just want to make it clear, the reason its almost 1/2 the cost is because they are not using Drift Specific Insurance, and I am sure track rental is much cheaper.

From a driver standpoint, does it even matter what they're using?

If I wreck my car at either event, no one is helping me pay to fix it

Whether its 'Drift Specific' insurance or not...

The reason I won't go? Too far. IF my car breaks, I'm screwed. Ocala is only 85 miles from my house, I can afford a tow truck from there, but from there? 200+ miles? ummmm.....no thank you. Now if I had a tow vehicle, that would be a different story.

I am in like always these guys from ter-tech set up a really nice course, you could ask Bill or Taka. Plus you cant beat almost 10 hours of drifting.

hialeah sucks

and i can assure u that the top 3 miami drifters cant beat our top 6 drifters!!

haha, i might go...

Jay, they use the tracks insurance, but really what does it matter?? They run stock-car type races there all the time and numerous cars hit the walls, the word 'drifting' is just an excuse for greedy insurance bastards to go "Ooh, popular gen-Y sport, x-games demographic, let's rape them until their ass bleeds".

I'm so fucking tired of this insurance bullshit I'm ready to just say fuck America and move to Europe where people are actually held accountable for their actions and don't sue, whining about shit like 'big tobacco forced tricked me into smoking' etc etc et al....

Demolition derby insurance is sub $600 at Hialeah so I personally don't care what any insurance asshole wants to tell me about drifting being "the most dangerous form of racing" (an actual quote).

$50 is $50, come if you want, if not, more track time for the rest of us...

Ciao!

I understand that completely.... I am merely pointing out that to run an ocala event costs much more than an event at Hileah. I live with Kyle, therefore I get the inside information and trust me, they are not making money on these events and stuffing it in their pockets. I know this was not directly brought up in this post but I just want to reiterate it so new people who do not know better don't assume that since other events cost more that it's purely out of greed.

Now, the reason I won't go is stated above... it's just to far to drive. I like to trailer my car now just incase, and with gas etc.... it just doesn't make sense financially. But those who go, rock it balls deep!

I would love to go to it, but now that i'm in orlando, the distance is just too far.. maybe if we have both cars dont we can mess around or something, i'd love to go, hialeah is actually alot of fun (even with a ka) but unfortunatly i will more than likely not be able to spend the $$

hialeah isn't bad as a track at all. its not the tracks fault if you hit the wall now is it? the drive sucks ass and the fact that if your car breaks its a long tow home. but as a venue i think its one of the better one's around, and it IS put on my the nicest guys around!!!!!!! i'd go if i had a way to teleport me and my car back and forth.

Yea, I forgot you live with Kyle now, and I definitely know insurance can be ridiculous. Its really too bad because there is no reason for it other than corporate greed combined with the mentality that if a car hits someone at a track its not the persons fault. In my book, just going to a race event, people should accept the risk, no one forced them to be there....

people crying about track insurance instead of drift in surance

the way i look at it, if you can run a demo derby or fan appreciation night and race yoru own car out there, thats just as good insurance as drifting.

it's about the same drive as from Tampa/St. Pete
if you're headed someplace north of Ft. Lauderdale it's faster
TerTech will let you tandem y'know :)
....and the enjuku car won't outrun a 600hp(?) bmw from sheer power

ok well then, why don't you guys comp us on our gas and tolls and what not both ways !

And why would anyone do that? BTW when I lived in orlando I made the Orlando-Ft lauderdale run many times and it was never more than 3.5 hours, especially if you take the turnpike.

A lot of us down south drive past Orlando for the DDay's so forgive me if I don't feel sorry. Palm Beach to Ocala is longer than Orlando to Mia.

We are working on other locations. Since the Hialeah Speedway will be teared down in April. Hopefully we will have a location in West Palm sometime in January or February. February we will have the first of four races in Florida Drifting Association (FDA) Championship at Hialeah Speedway. Second one will likely be at Homestead. Third one at Moroso and Fourth at Seebring.
