Displacment isnt always better ...
The 2 liter Turbocharged 3SGTE will fit into the ST182 Chassis without any real modifications other than wiring ...
So my vote is Gen 2/3 3SGTE

I agree. its been done before, the engine is proven, and it ends up being a decent combonation.

Heh... Give me a break, I'm at work with people on the tech line telling me, "I put the disk in and it dosent work?"
"Did you put it in the floppy drive?"
"Well I put the blue disk (a floppy) into the slider tray thing. It was really hard and now it wont open again."
"Mam that's a CD drive, not a floppy drive. You're most likely going to need to call a computer tech to remove the floppy disk from your CD-ROM"
(meanwhile typing on Toyota Tech)
Anyhow. I wonder how difficult it would be to get a AE101 4agze into a celica, it would most likely not be as fast as the 3s. It however would be interesting.
Well that kid has a Silvertop 20V in his ST202 Celica with the quad Headlights ..
If it came with a 7AFE It would probally be pretty easy . I dont knwo if it ever did though . I think that body style got the 3SFE and such ..

Hey I would recommend checking out celicatech.com. There are plenty of people that have a 3sgte into your car. Its not a st-182 chassis btw. I believe its st or at -162. not too sure. 5thgens are st/at-180-185. When you go and register put GT4SOM as your refferer.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH, OMG thats some funny shit hammaR.
ok , it all depends on what motor is in the celica to START out with. some celica ST's had 4afe's or 7afe's in them, which means a 3sgte swap will be a huge bitch, but a 4agze would be nice and simple. now being that its a 89 it prolly has a 3sfe so the 3sgte would be a bolt in affair. hell even use the FE tranny for longer gears!!

No, all the suggested motors would be FWD. You can make it AWD, but those are rare over here so if you really wanted to, you'd have to get parts from Japan or Australia or somewhere
