We're having a get together tonight. Myself and a couple other cars. Well Im off work tomorrow. So I figured why not get more people involved in this.

There will be at least 3 cars here tonight. Multiple runs. I have invited a few others with no responce. So here is an open invite. PM me if you want to come out and about.

This could be your chance to shut my cocky mouth up. Beat me, and go home with a happy war story.

I will be going from a dig, and a roll with anyone who wants a race. There will be a 40mph roll. The race will be no more then 100mph, or whoever can hold the lead for 5 seconds. This is a no money event. I do not run for cash. I never will.

Just send me a PM for my number and I will call with a location. This event will be held later in the evening, where limited traffic is around. Probably 10p-12a.

Excellent night everyone. I wont a couple, lost once again to alberto, worse then before as he promised. I had some oil issues again, and timing issues. All in all though, an awesome turn out, and no cops until we were already leaving. :)

As far as the 40 thing. When I get to 35 I brake boost it. I let it creep to 40, and do the honks.

No more running for awhile. dyno time tomorrow and getting the cams in there.

went from 40-110, he beat me by about 1-1.5cars. He was pulling up top I would say that to 120 It would of been about 2 cars. Which makes sense considering he traps prob 110 and I trapped 108 the only time Ive gone to the track.

I was kinda iffy about running last night because my car was getting a little hard to control on the street tires... But after all was said and done, it was a fun night... I tried to get at Jeff when we got on the interstate... But he decided to do like 100 all the way accross the HF.... :lol:

it was a lot of fun. im glad the 1J didnt get smoked... however, the 280z has a tendency to roll past 40mph while brake boosting... because i sped up to 40 and held it there and i could hear jeff's turbo spooling and he was creeping ahead and was at full boost and 1/2 car ahead at the 3rd honk... i was coasting at 40mph then and launched the car in 2nd gear and it just spun the tires and even got a little squirlley. i think the pavement out there is pretty smooth and slick... i tried the same technique on US19 on the new pavment and it didnt get anywhere near as squirrley.

and i wasnt missing gears. i only missed a shift once. on the very first run, i couldnt get it into 3rd while powershifting. after i was in 3rd gear, it rode out to ~118mph and this JDM ECU in the 1JZ has a speed cut on it... just like Fuel cut. i was on Jeff's rear quarter and pulling up untill 118mph and the ECU shut off the fuel... so it sounded like i dont know how to shift and i was hitting the rev limiter.

I installed the Speed limiter defender so now it goes past 118mph no problem... as verified by the Dyno at Race Related. so, without the speed cut goin on and jeff STAYING at 40mph UNTILL the 3rd honk, itll be a very very close and exciting race. ;)

Im not a big fan of the road there either.... That first run of mine was VERY scary for me, and Alberto too I believe.. I definitely wasnt expecting that to happen, and had no choice but to shut down and get on the brakes... I swear my heart mustve stopped for a second.... Very scary stuff... I dont think I will be running at that spot anymore... At least not without proper tires....

i know the dsm guys call it fuel cut, and describe it as a big cloud of black smoke pouring out the arse, but that sounds like timing being cut too, if there was no fuel, there would be no puff of black smoke and raw fuel. just terms i hear now and again, that kinda make me question who first coined them.

Huh, that's a weird way to limit speed. My Accord's limiter would let you accelerate past the 115 limit, but when you hit 118 it would bounce you back down to 113 as the engine just shut off and coasted down a bit, and then you could accelerate back up. Is it something like that? The coolest fuel cut I've experienced was in an sr20 s13, when it it 112 or whatever it was it just stopped there, smooth as can be, but it had to have been cutting spark because when on the limiter a two foot flame blew out of the tailpipe and stayed lit until you backed off the limiter. It's the same at 108 in my mom's pathfinder, minus the cool flame.

My ecu will not let you accelerate anymore once speed cut has been reached. Chris tried this the other night and and he then experienced substained fuel cut. I guess the ecu was pissed he didn't listen the 1st time.

I didn't think it was shutting off the spark, but maybe. Mine is just like the 240 you were talking about and I would also shoot huge flames. It just shuts the fuel off 100%. I'll go read up on it and see if I can find any other information.

i could be totally wrong on it, but i mean its just like having a carbed car backfire..if you were to be driving, then turn the key off (no spark) and keep rolling, then turn the car back on, you would get a huge backfire from all the unignited fuel that went in/out of the cylinder and is exploding in the exhaust piping. and at 110mph, your using a substantial amount of power to push you, you'd be quite suprised what losing ~10 degrees of timing would do.

I have an HKS Speed Limit Defender, it was found on ebay for $40 shipped. Greddy also makes them and yes you should be able to use it on just about any car. You'll just need to get ahold of the instructions hopefully in English.

which chris are you talkin to?

that HKS SLD is available for just about any car out there. the set of instructions that came with this one are old, like Pre-1990. the JZA70 pinout isnt on here. but it does include many other cars, nissans and mitsus and such. on the same page is the pinouts for installing the FCD too. only problem is its all in japanese... i had to look up the Japanese characters for the wire colors. i was able to translate what color was supposed to go to which ECU pin. so it was ok after that.

Last night, the car hit 140+ on the dyno, so it apparantly is working quite well. im going to try to install the SAFC today... and the 2JZ cams if we can get ahold of Leko. i really need to do something about that stock DP too... Jeff, when are we going to put a turbo-back DP/exhaust on the Z?

btw, your welcome for the garden hose and box knife that you didnt need... i wish i woulda seen that heater hose on your car BEFORE i left for Wal-Mart :bbb:

EDIT: Kenny, im not sure if its fuel cut or spark cut... maybe its spark cut, like the Rev limiter... but instead of dropping a cylinder every other rotation... it might drop ALL cylinders at the same time for however many revolutions. it feels exactly like "Fuel Cut" or Boost cut on a DSM: a brick wall. as opposed to loss of power such as shutting the ignition offf and coasting. one of the runs, it would cut out violently untill i back off the throttle... but instead of backing off, i just upshifted into 4th and it went about another 10mph before it went into a complete loss of power and began coasting... like the Speed cut on GM trucks ~98mph... or probably like Jordan's Mom's pathfinder.
