Blow through box?

I have a Mercedes C220, and I went to circuit city to see about installing my 12" in the back, but they said I would hardly hear it. They said Benz's and BMW's have metal firewalls between the cabin and trunk to cut down on noise, and I would be better off getting a blow-through box custom made. Does anyone know a good, reputable shop that could make me one of these?

They were right about the metal firewall but you will still hear it. My dad had a 1990 525i that basically became my first car. First system-2 JBL 12's in that car...then put 4 Kicker comp12's in it. Heard it pretty well.

And as for awesome shops....most knowledgeable people on here say Sensous Sounds or Audionutz in ocala...I went to AVE Audio in clearwater all the time cuz it was close to me and for a real small shop they do good work imo.

BTW I install for CC. Dont believe whatever their sales people tell you. Few really know what theyre talkin about. Go get the opinion of custom shops first.

so in your opinion would I need a blow through box? I want the bass the be felt. I had the 12" and amp (500w bazooka) in my integra and I liked how that sounded, how much more dampened would it be with the firewall? Thanks.

Well its def not gonna compare to the integra, being that the teg had nothing blocking the sound. What kind of 12 is it? What kind of blow-through box do you speak of? Im assuming you just mean ported with the ports through an armrest or through the rear deck? It depends on how much you are going to pay for this blow through box you speak of.

it's a generic 12, but it hit very hard, how much approximately would a blow through box run me? I'm going to go to a shop tomm and get an estimate.

I personally wouldnt do a blow thru with the rear firewall, because unles syou have a pass thru in the seat its a waste. I'd do a rear deck install.

I have that kind of problem in my g20. The sound is so muffled so I usually just drive with the seat folded down. I don't have a metal firewall, but just something to think about if your seats fold.

I wouldnt think it would be worth the hassle and money of a blow thru if your just using a generic sub

I dont think you would really need a custom box built. All a "blow thru" is is cutting a hole from the car to the trunk so the bass can "blow thru"

When I used to own a s10 regular cab I was thinking about building a blow thru from the bed to the cab but didnt due to having to cut up the truck.

can you elaborate on what a "read deck install" entails? Yeah I'm not looking to spend a ton of money, just because I have very little money in the system itself.

If you have a ski hole in the middle of your back seats, just use an angled box and fire it through that. We do quite a few of those type installs and they sound pretty good.

just put like 2 badass 15's back there........ no matter what you will hear that......

or maybe go with some custom 6.5 subs under the dash or something........

that sub wont compare to your integra, i have a mustang. which has no metal firewall or anything but just the seets beeing there alone take away TONS of volume
