The '06-'07 Impreza redesign insider's estimation, 2.5L WRX and STi rumors.
2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (2007 US model year)
The other very intresting Subaru rumor that has been floating around for some time now is that the current EJ20 engine that powers the Impreza WRX will be bumped up to an EJ25X block in the USDM market. The power output should be bumped to around 250/250ish with greatly improved drivability and low-end torque. The lack of which was my biggest gripe with the EJ20 in my '02 WRX. This move really makes pefect sense as the EJ25X block platform is already shared between the STi, GT, XT and the Baja Turbo. The EJ20 currently is all alone in the WRX.
Do keep in mind that Subaru has never relied on cars sold in North America to satisfy FIA homologation requirements.

The STi's EJ257 is suppose to see a AVVT system that in addition to the degree of the cam will also control the lift of the cam (VVL). This is the same AVC system that is already being used on the EZ30R (H6). This should along with other tweaks bump power respective to the WRX power bump with the new engine.

I just really don't think I could justify spending the money again to buy another STi. It was an awesome car but if I was going to spend some money I think I would have to spend a little more and pimp an Elise.

celica and some neon styling in there too. not a fan at all, but i'll reserve my opinion until i can see one in person. oh well, the legacy STI will be out in 2007 too, so i'm going to look at that as well.

I'm wanting to keep my bugeyes more and more, the further Subaru goes down this road. If I were to get another Subaru, I'd go GC8 before looking at the new designs.
