Mine are titanium and you liked those. Compared to my sister's silk tweeters I don't think mine are too harsh.

I think titaniun tweets have a more crisp sound. You cant go wrong with silk ones though:)

First question should be what components are your buying? I usually prefer silk but have heard several systems using Ti and they sounded very good.

i <3 silk tweeters.
i've always thought of titanium dome tweeters as being way too harsh. they sound super on the hi-hats... but outside of that they hurt my ears. silk dome tweeters are much more warm and natural in their high frequency reproduction.

I have to agree w/Miles metal tweets ring.... silk is much softer.
If your using 2 way titanium has it bennies(they can take some punishing) but... If its a 3 way definitely go with silk.
Also where you place them has alot to do with harshness too
with titanium you would want to keep them as close to the mid-driver as possible...silk can be farther away and still sound great.
Again it is all a matter opinion dependant upon type of music, personality, and wants from the system itself.
SQL = Silk
SPL = Titanium
Just my$.02 hope it helps
I always liked the smooth silk sound... it takes a real good titanium (focal) to not be harsh.. after listening to a slew of titaniums and silks latley, especially with all the country music I listen to (zips up flame suit)
