I bought a 240sx a few months ago to beat/work on. And, I just put a deposit on a Scion tC this week. The dealer only offered me $13,500 for my car. Does that sound low to anyone else?

Dealers will always try and rape you on a trade. Mastro didn't want to give me more than like $2,500 for my Integra. So I took it to Carmax, and they gave me over $1,000 over book value. So if you can't sell the car locally, take it to Carmax. Their "appraisal" process is amazing in a pathetic kind of way. But unless the car is FUBARed, you'll at least get KBB value for it.

It's usually a bad idea to do a trade in. Without a trade in the dealer is forced to haggle over the actual cost of the car. With a trade in, the dealer can keep the new car's price static and simply haggle over the cost of the trade-in. Anyways, why are you selling the Subaru? Bored with it?

Good advice guys, thanks! Scion is a no-haggle dealership, so that makes it even more interesting.

Why sell the WRX? Kinda bored with it. Don't really want to dump a ton of money into it to make it fast. Plus, my mileage is starting to get up there. I need to drive less!

yeah they'll always offer low. if you get alot for your trade in, you'll get a higher price for the new car.

if you get a good deal on the new car, expect to get next-to-nothing for the trade-in. its how it works. what you're doing with private party selling is much smarter and you'll turn out better in the long run.

good luck with teh sale and the scion. i really really want a tC.

Well maybe we can meet up sometime and you can have a test drive. I see you've got an S14, you going to dday4?

I'm still waiting on some jackhole on eBay to send me a stock headunit. As soon as I get it, I'm headed to Carmax. They've got one very similar to mine listed in the SE for *cough* 18,998. Looks like they might be offering good money for WRXs.

They didn't offer me jack for my 02 with around 35k miles. Mine is mint except I need it needs drivers side fender liner. The interior still smells new. It is a now bone stock 5-speed and they offered me like 13.5k. I was like have a nice day. Good luck with yours and let me know how it goes. I went to the Clearwater one btw.
