Alright, as a note, I'm sixteen and have next to no experience with cars, but I'm going to ask this anyway. Very soon I will be getting a 1982 Mustang GT, stock. It was purchased by ym grandmother when it was new and will now be handed down to me. I don't want to make it excessively fast, as I have not the budget to do so, but I'd like to know what I can do to make it faster. What are some of the things you can do to get the most "bang for your buck".

heads/cam/headers
trust me on this save like 2gs up and buy a kick ass set of heads, then a good roller cam an a set of headers
i always figured just by a set of sick heads instead of getting alright ones and having to sell them and get new ones because they wouldn't meet your needs anymore
welcome the site and do what keith said.

Take this into the Ford forum and Welcome ...

But ,

Headers , H-Pipe , 1.7 Roller rockers , 3.73 gear would put you solidly into the 13 second bracket .... A ford motorsports E Cam is also a very in-exspensive power adder .

Considering the configuration of an 82', I would get an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Holley 650 carb, 1.7 roller rockers, long tube headers, 2 1/2" Xpipe, 2 1/2" Flomaster Catback, 3.73 gear, aftermarket shifter, electric fan, Underdrive pullies, and a 125 hp nitrous kit. On slicks this should get your in the low 13's on the motor and high 11's on the spray.

this kid just started driving, the last fucking thing i want on the road is some kid with slicks and a bottle with a tricky fuckin finger!

no offense intended, but get use to your car 1st...drive it around for 6 months or so...id say probably 90% of kids get in an accident their 1st year of driving cause they think the road is a speedway..and i have a few friends who have totaled their cars from lack of common sense.

I have no intention of getting slicks or spray Deacon, quite honestly the concept of putting something that explosive into an engine that's already using explosions for power is a fightening thought, I've seen one to many videos with the theme "NoS Gone Wrong". Mostly I ask the questions because it's an interest and hobby I'd like to learn, I don't yet have the funds and resources to do much to the Mustang and likely after my first year of driving I'll only be another dumbass on the road with a load exhaust system.

Question, I've done what everyone has suggested and crammed my little head with anything and everything I could read, but after extensive searching I could not find (on the internet) a set of Flowmaster Cat-backs that was designed for an 82 Mustang, or that a set had been designed with a range of years in mind that included 1982, I'd like to know if there's a universal model or something that you all might be refering to, or are simply telling me to get them because you think there's a set out there that will fit.

LOL are you serious? Unless you a complete moron, nitrous is perfectly safe. First of all nitrous isn't explosive, in fact it's non-flammable. At 565 degrees the N2O breaks down releasing a high content of oxygen which gives your your extra power when fuel is added. If your saftey valve fails and the pressure in the tank gets too high, it is possible for the bottle to explode. But again, unless your a complete moron, you don't leave your nitrous bottle in your car all day baking in the sun. And some people use propane torches to heat their bottle which can cause hairline cracks in the bottle and lead to the bottle exploding from the high pressure, not because it is flammable. Nitrous is perfectly safe if used properly.

I'm wasn't aware it wasn't explosive, but I swear I've seen videos of the shit exploding, which gives me reservations. Also, I don't want to drag until I'm much older, and have experience driving at least. Sheesh, chill, I said in the beginning I wasn't very knowledgable.

He's asking questions, calm down. If all he has seen is a video, then yes, he has much to learn. Help him w/ links like you gave him or who would want to come on the site and ask questions. I'm sure you started asking questions at some point ;)

The moron comment was in reference to people in general that don't use nitrous properly, I wasn't calling you a moron.
