need some help

Kenwood KRC-535(cassette player)
Kenwood add on cd player
RockfordFosgate Amp
Infinity Subs

both decks i assume are recieving power but the cassette player is stuck in the eject position without a display and will not move..ive tryed resseting it, re connecting all the harness wires and still i get the same thing..now the cd player will take in and eject cd's but it doesnt sound like it trys to read them once their in the player... the only thing i think it could be is a short in the harness other then that i have no idea wuts going on here

any ideas would help alot

its the kenwood mask system. the ribbon cable wears out and shorts itself. Its not an expensive fix but it will most likley happen again, unless kenwood has a new style ribbon cable.

or else buy a new tape deck

im not really sure wut the ribbon wire is...but wut you said sounds like it could be the cause...b4 this i used to just get noise from my subs unless i would wiggle the harness alittle bit and then it would play through all the speakers

this is true but the radio itself isnt old at all..i only had it for a few months b4 this started to happen...its been broken longer then ive had it.

ive heard of kenwood units doing this crap. I kno somone who had those el kamelion or w/e do the same thing. Research on google for "kenwood ribbon" or something

well i ripped my radio apart and found 2 ribbon cables...one that runs direcltly to the back of the radio face from the main board of the radio, and the other that contols the motor of the rotating face which has 2 solder points on top of the motor

im not sure which is the one that ends up eating shit..it hink its the one that goes to the face? google it, its a very common problem

Yeah I think it's the one that connects to the face because of all the folding in and out.

yah makes sense cuz the motor works but the display doesnt..ok i think i found my problem thx everyone
