ok Ihave put up with the whine for a while now, and you all know which whine, the one that increases with your rpms. I have installed a noise filter just before the head unit and it doesn't help. the +12v and acc is solid and the ground was changed from factory wire to ground distro block and still no change. I have seen a filter that goes on the alternator signal wire on the crutchfield website. could this be what I need? thanks.

Do you have an amp on your mids/highs or are they powered by the radio? If amp, how close are your RCAs to any other wires? Ive never used one of those alternator signal things but im sure someone else will chime in. Good luck

I'd look into your rca's and move your grounds around a couple times.... Otherwise, it's probably the particular amp and/or deck you're running.

my 4 channel amp is a 800 watt sony xplod, the sub amp is a power acustic saphire series 1200watt 2 channel, I have a 2.4 farad digital cap. the pre amp out puts are all 4v. for power the main 12 volt line is run along the passengers side beside the seat under the door sill, the remote wire is run on the passenger side of the center hump, the rca's are all twisted pair and are run on the drivers side of the center hump, so I don't think its a matter or the power wires causing a cross induction. the 4 channel amp is set for high pass, and the 2 channel for, of coarse, low pass. even the speaker wire is a twisted pair wire. I went through a good expense when I installed this system to avaoid signal distortion. I just want to find the problem without spending money on unneccessary filters. when I turn up the music to normal volume ( 30 out of a possible 34) you can't hear the whine, of course I didn't hear my first motor blow either :) but at lower normal humane volume levels it's there. thanks for the help, keep it commin.

More than likely it's just the equipment you're running, some brands/models are more sensitive then others.

Yeah it definitely sucks. I had the same problem with my GFs car and I swapped around the RCAs and it cured it. Sounds like you have yours setup right though.

I may go ahead and try the filter on the alternator wire since it's only like $14 from crutchfield. thanks for the help though at least I know I didn't screw anything up.

30 ouf ot 34 = normal volume = sounds like your gains are fishy

no that's just what I "normally" have it at, thus normal volume. of course it tends to piss off the old fucker in the caddy but hey he's half def anyway. :)

he already has the rca's on the opposite side of the car from where the power wire is so you're saying he should run them with the power wire:roll:
