How many of you are running on Limited Slip Differentials, and what models do you prefer?

Don't forget welded!

I traded in my welded for a vlsd...

and I prefer the latter of the 2.

but one day cusco will pwn me like a homeless child.

An open diff that is welded is still an OPEN DIFF that is welded :)

yes

but WELDING an open diff, I'd consider that you're changing the physical properties and the mechanical workings of the diff enough that it's no longer considered an OPEN DIFF

as in it no longer reacts in any way, shape, or form like an open diff so it should no longer be considered an OPEN DIFF but rather a welded? :?

blah

EDIT: an anyone w/ a 2-way clutch type = :madfawk: ;)

I don't have a favorite i guess....only driven cars with vlsd aside from a few quick runs in sean's bmw when he had the quaife in it. I'm sure the first time I really drive a car with a good lsd I will have to throw down on an upgrade.

my vlsd has done me good for the amount of shit i have put it threw. but i'd trade some one for an open diff.

haha. quit driving like an asshole.
vlsd as of today. I have drivin them before so i know what it is like. My last was a torsen. I very much liked the torsen, it feels very controlable and predictable IMO.

OEM 132k mile clutch diff here, still grabbing strong. I will stick with it, considering its only $40 to rebuild it

Yeah, Welded and open. I have uses for both. But I think I am getting some money in so Ill paint my car this summer, and I will get a LSD. So I dont have to do those great late night diff changes.

I hear you on that...I changed mine by myself, and I'm like 6', 140pounds...hmmm? Plus i have to take my exhaust out to get to the bolts...plus apparently I love to strip them so it lets me take more time.

im just running open for now, but after some other areas of concern (worn out front bushings, suspension) ill probably get a j30 from a hookup at a junlyard for next to nothing.

i also get really cheap dealer prices, so if the hookup falls through, ill just get the nismo for around 700.

Deftforce. I love it, but would love it even more in the car.

Its a nice paper weight. Locks hard and doesnt let those papers go.

The same can be said of a car with an open diff. I know it locks on accel and deaccel. But why is that bad? I guess its something I need to drive on my own?

Ive drivin my 2 way in rain and snow and I abolutly love it! Ive never had a problem, Just drive slow and you'll be fine! I think it actually help with more traction in the snow!

i have an open diff in both of my cars and i hate it. for straight line the ka isn't so bad with it, but the sr hates it. as soon as it starts building boost in first gear it breaks the tire loose and i have traction issues untill around third. for drifting its the other way around. it's not so bad on the sr but for the ka if i have to let off of the gas mid drift it doesn't like to spin the outside wheel any more when i get back on it and ends up understeering.

There is nothing wrong with two-ways. I drive in the rain ALL of the time. I drove in the hurricane! hahahaha. The clunking, just like every other noise my car makes, gets moved to the back burner and is easily ignored. I love the diff. Anyone that would trade it for a VLSD is stupid UNLESS they have no use for a two-way............................................... .......

Don't you mean ANY drifting? Also, it helps a lot with drag racing as well. :)
