Its begun, Fiberglass doorpods

Ok, I thought I would slack off and not do these for awhile.

but I found a piece of MDF for 6 dollars at home depot. AND I got 20 in homedepot cards.

just goes to show god loves MDF and fiberglass too!



Heres the Start. I will do a full tutorial in the end for my website.

I used Half inch MDF board and placed the MB quart sticker which showes where to cut ontop of it.

I then used my dremel tool and cut the inside circle. I then went to home depot and picked up a Dremel accessory that is a 1/4 inch router bit.
I then went around the outside of the ring so that way when i place the fiberglass around it it will be strong.

Rick, no offense

PLEASE use a circle cutitng jig/jigsaw.. that outside edge is horrendous. If you want, I bet i could router you out that circle

But otherwise, looks good, is this for midrang eor midbass? positioning?

Haha, No its actually on purpos because thats where the glass gets attatched to and since it might get hit hard or something if you do it smooth, itll pop off "easy" but with jagged edges gives it more to adhere to for diff strengths. IMO and I didnt care cause i figured it would be below glass so no one would see hehe.

Looks like a beaver has been nawing on that thing. I don't see how fiberglass would "pop off"? You stretch the fabric over the template and staple it down, then resin over it...shouldn't be too flimsy when it's done.

In actuality, by not making a uniform surface, it reduces the overall strength of the product by reducing the surface area. If you had rouded it over via roundover bot or sanding, or even just beveled it you would have a fine bond, and symmetrical

yea, in addition im starting to think that when the felt is pulled it will cause a goofy shape when I glass over. the cricle wont be uniform and smooth around.

arg. scrap that piece :(

I used to build everyhting with a jigsaw. Even fine cuts had to be made with a jigsaw. Cutting a sheet of 4x8 mdf, jigsaw, cutting 1/4 inch dowel? jigsaw. cutting my fingers/? jigsaw
