I dont trust them, much less my measurements

If I fuck up a cut, I cut a new peice. If they fuck up a cut it will be "cut to my measurement" which will in turn be wrong

you are not asking the right question here. i will answer the question you SHOULD be asking. No, you should not get a box made of wood. you need an air tight seal if you dont' want your bass to sound like shit. you want to have minimal rattle, and you will need lots of insolation.

unless of course you are completely rice and don't care about quality.

fiberglass a custom trunk would be my suggestion. looks way better, and will sound clean.

and what makes you say that wood wont sound clean?

Youre telling me that the entire world of audio has it wrong. home audio, car audio... concert audio... all wrong for using wood?

Enclosure, if built propery, with identical specs, will sound identical, regardless of material.

My boxes are airtight, most every box if built right (ported nonwithstanding) will be air tight.

does everyone use a crap load of wood glue on their boxes? cuz i glue every edge i screw into, and then every inside edge to make sure there are no leaks. Anyone know of something that will seal around where the wires come out easily?

93ex

a terminal cup.

Ive used just wood glue to make a box before. sometimes wood glue is stronger than screws.

My ported box has the smaller sides held in place with no screws, only super glue liberally.

I use a brad nailer, wood glue on the joints, and a silicone caulk on all inside edges.

we use wood glue for the cracks (and for the people that dont know, the glue is actually stronger then the wood 99% of the time) and then a staple gun. pretty much the staples are just there to help hold it while the glue drys, then we calk the hell out of the seems inside. the box came out pretty decent. ill take a pic tom. when we cut the wholes for the subs and stuff

once the glue seeps thru the pores, it will rip the wood before the glue breaks.

TIM TIM TIM
09-26-2004, 10:46 AM
yep.. therefore the glue is stronger lol.. but yeah.. we were going to finish it today but for some odd reason i dont see that happening
