gt and cobra kills

i was on my way to my friends house saturday night just to drop him off and i come up to a red light. at the light is this dark blue mustang gt. i look over but he doesnt look back. all of a sudden i hear him reving his car to launch hard and he sure did! there was no way i would get him from a dig. besides, my manifold is cracked so i shouldnt even be thinking about racing. so i coast up to him after he lays back and can't help but downshift and he jumps on me by like a fender and i pull hard on him by like a car and a half but then we catch up to traffic at another light. we weave thru and start talking. pretty cool guy. up in front of us is a cobra and he eggs me on to go after it. i'm thinking i'm going to get murdered bcz these new supercharged cobras are sick fast but oh well, i live for the run so i pull up next to him and blow off a couple times and he looks over and laughs at me and i hear him downshift and his car starts roaring like only mustangs do, but he wasn't going anywhere. i was already at full boost when we started and it was from like a 60mph roll so i guess that was in my favor but i pulled on him by like a fender to half a car and held there till we caught traffic at the next light.

thanks guys. the cobra was an '03. and it was nuts of me to even think about racing w/ my manifold and all but you know how i get sometimes norlandt. i've been doing good staying away from ass hauling but i couldnt resist.

uh... I'm having a hard time believing it was an '03. he downshifted from 60 and didn't go anywhere. That's weird, cause I know 03 cobras move out pretty good from a roll. Even in stock form. If you ever wanna actually race an '03 Cobra let me know. If you win, I'll give props were props are due.

Yeah im having a hard time believing it too, i have a faster than normal GT. Even though i can take the older Cobras, the new ones kill me, from a roll, from a dig, backwards, doesnt matter. But im willing to go up against a t'bod celica though

I'd just be interested to see some more stuff about the Turbo Setup on the GT-S even. Props to you for that dood.

But I have to go w/the general consensus here. If it were an '03, and he didn't go anywhere. Maybe he shifted into 6th, or he wasn't on it, or something. 60 Roll is a heavy hittin spot for the boost on my '03.

+1 I have raced 2 03' cobras that were members of modern mustangs and it was a dead even race all the way to 115 both times which is over a 1/4 mile considering I trap 103...I dont think a turboed celica gts would do much to a COBRA

chances are he could have mis-shifted or basically doesnt know how to drive the car, but a kill is a kill is a kill. especially when street racing. no rules except set by the racers. it can happen to anyone, by anyone. but once again, if it will make all the 03+ cobra, or even mustang drivers out there happy to see me race one to prove my worth, then i would be glad too. and please dont get me wrong with this thread. i was not trying to say anything bad about the cobra. i love the car, i'd even love to own one. just posting a kill. but feel free to bring on what you have. by the way, to all of you who have raced any 03 cobras, are you all absolutely sure they were stock?!!

the cobras u raced must have been garbage drivers or something, ive raced numerous 03's from a roll and they tear me to pieces and i trap 105.53, i have a friend w/ a bone ass stock 03 trapping 110-111, unless the celica and the Z r low 12 second cars, neither of u r 03 material from a roll...correction his 03 has a steeda cold air kit

ok so i am over at a friends house right now and i can not believe what i am reading....so let me clear this up for everyone on here....i am the owning and driver of the 04 cobra....we are driving down DM and my budy just raced this kid in his car and called me up and told me that the kid beat him by about a car....so i wait for them and here he comes....pulls up next to me and he was right...i do laugh..like i am laughing now about reading this so we do drop it and i only give it half throtle and i would tap it next to him just to let him know that he is giving his car all it's got and i am bearly giving my car anything...so i would have figured he would have know i was just fucking with him and now i read this and he thinks it was a real race which is funny....but just to clear it up for ya'll...i was only toying with him...i mean...to be honest...i didn't want to break the speed limit so i stayed at his speed....haha...but anyways i am giving you a open invetation to whenever you want to run and anybody can watch....we can do it at the track we can do it on the street and this time i won't toy with you ...i will put city blocks on you...and your car is not a 12 sec car...cause that would mean my car is 12 sec at only half throtle....haha....sorry to spoil your high...but your car isn't fast and like i said before...anytime you want all of my cobra...just let me know....cause no more play time with you......and this is just a typical rice boy....so let me know when you want me to put you in your place...and i will video tape it and post it so everyone can laugh at you...not just me....lol....so let me know

Im not saying I dont believe you, I have never personally even seen this celica, I have been wanting to race it myself. But is it necessary to call everyone rice cause maybe they dont agree with your statements? Half throttle sounds a bit off to me IF, BIG IF the celica was actually putting out 250whp. We dont know that for sure, maybe its putting out 210, 200 who really knows. I am just going by physics when I say I disagree with your statement, Physics would tell me my conclusion not the fact that I know the kid or whatever. But you are correct next time we will just watch the tape and have it leave no doubt. Til the next time.

he never actually says how much he puts on him and a speed is not mentioned.

a 14.1 mustang should get pretty worked by a 250whp celica. but like I said, the celica has a cracked manifold, I am gonna assume it did not put that out with that being the case.

I never claimed that you were giving it your all but half throttle? come on man half throttle means you are not putting anywhere near the power you have down to the ground. I mean half throttle sounds a bit extreme, maybe 3/4 throttle maybe shifting too early, something like that. half throttle sounds like an exxageration to me. oh well though , doesnt really matter, there is no need to call people "ricers" cause they have a car that doesnt happen to be as fast as your stock car. actually, there would big a big difference between the two. One, it really doesnt matter how much horsepower you put down. Let's worry about the torque. That is where a turbo car usually falls behind. Not always but that is usually the case. Why am I able to keep up with Cobras that are pushing close to or over 500 Horse? My torque is awesome. (gotta luv da Nitrous)
I would be willing to run this Celica from a roll or a dig if he would like. I personally do not believe however that this is a 12 second car. I also do not believe that this guy w/out any mods (tires would be a biggey) is in the 12s either. Remember that when you are talking Turbo VS Supercharger or Nitrous car.

Well, the celica guy is actually a good friend of mines and the reason he hasnt responded is because he doesnt have internet at home. He actually posts from his job when he gets a chance. Now, i raced him once when my car was cutting off at 4500 rpms. My car ran 13.4 with this problem. When we raced i put about a car and a half on him at first but then he started pulling on me like there was no tomorrow. So, if he pulled on me the way he did i'd say he's very low 13's or high 12's.

1) I am the GT that got it handed to by the GTS. and i would not say that it was handed to me. i would say he beat me by a car or a car and a half. after he would race me only in his conditions (when he was spooled up). and futher more my car is a GT with intake, exaust, 373, shifter, radials, and since i have no cats and no chip or mils i have a check engine so the comp is running in default mode. but the gts would most likely still beat me. i mean he claims 250 hp and my car comes with 260 at the flywheel, plus over 1000 pounds i would hope he pulled on me but thats not the problem at hand. my car is a daily driver and not a street machine

2) When you say that the 04 driver couldnt drive you are mistaken. he taught me how to drive. when i took my to the track i ran a 14.1 (w/o tires, 373, and shifer) and he ran a 13.8. i know it is not the smartest thing to admit but it needs to be said. and he has owned a 66, a 98, a 03 mach 1, and now a 04 cobra. and in fact i think the 66 would make a come back and put the gts back on a ship to japan where it belongs. anyway the fact is he is a good driver, one of the best i know.

3) As far as who is gay and who is not: Props are awarded to Jabtay, ZaccLs1, Shockwave and last but not least red baron (ps stay away from him unless you like looking stupid). and then we have the rice boys. jsimon9633 come on you are a contradiction all in your self, if im not mistaken you have "i love rice" as your quote. but please dont get me started on "rice" you guys have already made street racing a bigger legal deal than rape...i hope your happy. but please dont get me started!
