I have 2 image dynamics subwoofers, and a rockford fosgate amp, and i'm trying to figure out if/how i can hook them up. The subs are the IDQ V1 series and are SVC 4 ohm with an RMS of 200. the amplifier is a 400s and is rated at 400 watts bridged at 4 ohms.

how to i wire it all?

the only way I know to wire those subs...your going to need an amp thats going to put out max power at 2 ohms

Series. You could run them down to 2ohms..but I've found RF amps get extremely hot while that low.

the amp is 400 watts at 4 ohms, does it matter that the subs will be hooked up to the amp at 2 ohms?

not really.. since it wil lbe in 2 ohms, the wattage will jump, so you acommodate with the gain

would this (http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=183090) amp work with my subs? it's bridgeable to 200 watts rms at 4 ohms, so the subs should see 400 watts at 2 ohms right? Would the amp over-heat?

does 200 rms at 4 ohms always give 400 at 2? Two people on TR are selling mtx amps that are like that. Would i have to worry about them over-heating?

im going to have to say no because that would mean 400 watts at 4 ohms would be 800 watts at 2 ohms and thats not always tru

the way i understood it, it went something like this:

100 @ 8 ohms
200 @ 4 ohms
400 @ 2 ohms
800 @ 1 ohm

if its an mtx it dosent go down to 1 ohm stabel will over heat or catch on fire seen it happen

I was just using it as an example. But should it be able to handle a 2 ohm load?

yea most amps will its when its like 1 ohm or half an ohm were it becomes a problem

a lot of 2 channel amps dont like bridged to a 2 ohm load
