Pewter LS1 falls to the Evo....

On my way to the races Saturday night and I came across a pewter C5 with a chick driving it. I raced her from a 3rd gear roll and had a good 1/2 car on her by 4th. I was at 7000rpm's in 4th with a small pull still goin'.

I came across a red RSX with a front mount. I think he's the same one that raced a G35. Anyone see this race?

Anyway, he made a u-turn to go hang with the ricers. So we never ended up racing.

you got to call me. we were bored at gandy. ended runing a turbo 280. ended up fun but would have been nice to have the evo out.

actually that was me with the RSX ;) I was actually trying to find Insanecivicsedan but never actually did, although I did find ricers!

I thought that was you in the evo. I did race the g35. you down for a roll race? if you beat c5s from a roll should have no problems with this RSX

If this LS1 was spraying, thenn it was probably molasis that he was spraying. An evo on a roll should be a pretty even matchup for the two. If you don't believe me, I will show you... Good Kills though. Love the look of the EVO.

I have seen anywhere from 102-104 in the magazines, but have yet to see one run better than a 13.8 a the track

thats what I mean from a roll against a vette it should be getting pulled not pulling on it...and if the vette was spraying...it should be a slaughter.

ive never seen an evo come remotely close to a 13.1 stock, my friend had a 13.0 talon he used to put buslengths on any evo he ran, and i could put buslengths on them from a stop or roll, id hafta c a stock evo run next to a 6 speed c5 with a good driver ;)

Hmmm.

I smell something fishy here. Several somethings actually.

1) C5 Vettes have a Ls1 which is about 345 hp. A C5 will thus put down around 310 to the wheels stock.

2) C5 Vettes will run mid to high 12's at like 110-114 so unless this Lancer EVO has an upgraded turbo and other mods it aint running with the 180 mph Chevy supercar.

3) I think that maybe what the Lancer EVO ran was an Lt4 C6 or perhaps this story is prevarication.

ok Gunslinger u realize the C6 is significantly faster than a C5 right? lol...a Z06 will run high 11's low 12's a normal C5 will run high 12's low 13's at about 105-107mph...110-114 is 03' cobra style and i know they faster than C5, i know stock for stock a 6 speed C5 will take an EVO8 out, and a C6 wouldnt waste his gas lol, or at least not bother downshifting

The C6 is not making the numbers at the track it should man... they have one over at corvette concepts right now and ran it at the track and the best time they could get out of it was a 13.4

btw stock Z06s run 12.2 at a low end, not high 11s bro

The Zr1 motor was an Lt5 not an Lt4. The Lt5 is of course the DOHC 32 valve motor. The Lt4 is in the Lt1 family but with a better intake manifold and better heads.

I meant to say C4 not C6 earlier on.

I'm dizzy from shaking my head so much after reading so much mis-information. Tony's car, "Dr.Evo" did run a 13.1 the last/only time it was at the track and its basically stock. I was there..... I was also there when they got 12.90's out of a STOCK '99 Cobra....twice....on 2 different days. :o ...and we cant forget ???'s 12.8 pass in a bone stock '98 C5. Some crazy shit can happen at the track:o

Stock tune with bumped rev limiter. Never had the car on dyno, maybe Saturday if weather permits. Most say shortys are only worth 5-10 peak HP and maybe a little more mid range. HAVOC and Jeremy know me if you want confirmation.

Thanks. I've made tons of passes in the last 2-1/2 years, first in the SS and now in the Z. It takes lots of practice, a sticky track and cold weather to get the most out of your ride.

i was thinking the same thing. but wasn't even going to try...


ever zo6 i've seen runs a 115mph in the 1/4. even with a bad driver.

its lite and hooks well, no reason why that is not a 11.90 car with a good dirver.

and i have seen some crazy times come out of the track. once saw a friend of mine go 12.80s with a stone stock 94 lt1 vette with just the air filter pulled off. nothing else at all.

i was in shock... still not sure how it did that. backed it up with a 13.10 at the same mph. 107ish i believe, it was a cold night but damn.

that damn thing did a 110mph too. only had a k&n and i boged it every time...still think there was a 12.60 in it. if i had got one more try.

not really, on a turbo car if you just pull one vac hose off. its hard to say thats not stock.

changing hard parts is a diff story.

My time slips are in my gallery. It's my first time at the track bone stock with 1,200 miles on it. I've added a turbo timer and cat-back since. Even the tint is stock. ;)

Does anyone know the guy with the C5? He was racing some other cars at Causeway that night as well.

Btw, that's not the first C5 I've beat either. :)
