it is owned by a friend named richard who lives in NC, this car made over 900HP and was bangin on the 8 second barrier. he went to the track for some shakedown passes after adding a couple new parts. in fayetteville NC. thier track is super ghetto.

he heard a "pop" and he got out and looked, and the charge piping blew off, he went back to the car to shut it off but it stayed running. before he knew it flames were coming out of the hood, and the fuel lines had melted!!!!

GET THIS, he asked the track to call a fire truck 3 times, they said they did but NEVER DID, it burned to the ground as you can see.

they came over and pushed it out of the return lane with a tractor.

they are now being sued because in that particular county you MUST call the fire dept, when ANYTHING catches fire.............................................. ........and he never signed the waiver at the track!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he also has a new supra already from his insurance

he is going to use the housing but replace the guts. the tranny lived, it was a TH400-, and the stroked shortblock seems to be okay but he isnt going to chance it.

you need right at 850-875 to put a supra in the 9s and he was making about 975+ on the spray..........

You need a lot better tires. Also power isn't enough by itself to get that car into the 9's. Titan Motorsports had a full race unibody supra that ran 9.01 and it made 970hp at the wheels.

if it were my car, i would know every single thing about but i dont, i was just sharing some bad info on my buddys car.

as for 9 second capable supras, it was said in here that titans made 970hp and went a 9.01 my friends car made 975 like i said. of course he doesnt run a true race on 18 inch drag radials he has et streets, and et drags.

thats comparing apples to oranges... Titan's car weighs sub 3000 lbs... you cannot compare that car to Titans.

I saw the dyno video but that doesnt mean anything honestly it sounds like a 6speed wrapping around 4th gear..

Also Titan's car made over 1000RWHP on boost alone and they sprayed on top of that to run a 9.01 with the 6speed and actually they ran a 8.9 before switching to a automatic...

he asked for it. spend $xxxxxxxxxx on your xxxxxx hp supra and still watch it burn to the ground for not having proper fire safety.

i will agree that if it happened really quickly the fire extinguisher might not work due to not being able to pop the hood...but with the halon system, you just pull the switch inside the car and it should take care of business before it gets out of hand.

oh well sounds like he has enough $ to not worry about it and do another supra. must be nice.

I wasn't trying to bust your shit I was just curious. I've heard of his name on the Supraforums but only in the for sale forum parting out cars...

Actually it should take less to put his supra in the 9's with the th400... probably more around 700rwhp through the converter.
