300TT vs. 350Z

well we went from a very slow 1st gear roll. after three honks i took the jump and stayed about a half a car ahead all the way until 107mph. he nosed passed me at that point. after we turned around we did it again from a 45mph roll. he just stedily pulled in every gear and i let off. well that just goeas to show how different roll racing is compared to quater mile times. i would take him in the quarter being that i know i cant trap 107mph, but he takes me on the roll. oh well not a big upset for me considering im all motor and he isn't.

thanks, i didn't know the guy in the 300 so i couldn't tell you. i saw that he had atleast cat-back exhaust and i could hear his blow-off valves but thats it. i just have some intake and exhaust mods, no headers. soon to change though.

actually i think i won the first one. having the lead until over 100mph is pretty good. i coulda just let off at 100 and i would have been ahead. ofcoarse he's gonna win the mile long race, he is BOOSTING. damn why do you have to hate. whatever he was a good match up to 110mph.

in the way i meant it to come out is i won the 1st gear roll and he won the 45mph roll. no biggie. but in the first gear roll race he got to my front bumper at 107mph and started to inch but then we shut down. i know i cant trap a 107 so that means i had to have beat him in the quarter.

no really, if you think about it, you went from a slow start roll...... if you race from a dig you can fuck up, or spin bad. and then he would be able to pull on you a lot harder

actually a gti with an upgraded turbo will easily put out around 300whp which should be close to enough to beat one.

highly modded gti can put out near 400whp

i know what your saying. but if it were from a dig i think i would have really tore him up. i have alot of torque.btu like you said i have to control my spin and with my tires launches come from idle.

-350Z
-- 0-60 mph = 5.6
-- 1-100 mph = 13.89
-- 1/4 Mile = 14.15

- 300ZX TT
-- 0-60 mph = 5.5
-- 1-100 mph = 13.8
-- 1/4 Mile = 14.1

If, The 300ZX TT was slightly modded. He would walk you, but as close as this is. It would come down to drivers' skill.

My 2 cents.

i was the tt. he surprised the shit out of me at how well he took off the first time but the 1st gear roll i have learned is a bad starting point 4 my car. i just got the car running a few months ago and only been driving a stick 4 about 3 months now. no excuses though i just think he can drive his car better than i can mine.was fun though and should be able to walk him when i learn how to shift right. that sound was my intake i dont have bovs. would like to go from a dig. p.s. i got a few bolt ons:D

Quite right you are, stock block on a VW can put down about 360whp safely. ( i wouldn't go much more though), not so sure how much more with better internals though :dunno: .

thats what i dont understand......comeing once again from an old 350z owner, i know personally that the 300zx is more powerful and has more potential then the 350.
The stock 350 puts out around 287 to the flywheel and the 300zx is rated at 300hp, so who cares if he is boostin or whatever....even on the dig you will get the same result, after the turbo lag he will eventually catch up and pass you, i have seen it many times because serious91tt is my friend and has beat me a plenty of times. Im not pro but i can drive decent.....

It's rather interesting. If, You look at a comparison of these three cars:

1)2003 350Z 6MT
2)1994 300Z TT
3)1996 Skyline GT-R

- 100ft
-- 350Z = 3.0 sec
-- 300Z = 3.0 sec
-- GT-R = 2.6 sec

- 500ft
-- 350Z = 7.7 sec
-- 300z = 7.7 sec
-- GT-R = 7.4 sec

- 1/4 Mile
--350Z = 13.9 sec @ 102.9 mph
-- 300Z = 14.1 sec @ 99.6 mph
-- GT-R = 13.9 sec @ 97.7 mph

I would say that the 350Z has plenty of potential. Especially, Due to the better engine flexibility at top end. The GT-R has great flexibility up top too. Just the fact the turbos let the engine down at higher engine speeds. The 300Z is typically not a very good high rpm engine. Coupled with the turbos being too small as well.

Also, It appears these numbers for the 350Z contradict my previous numbers. This is due to my initial numbers. Coming from an average of the numbers reported by Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Motortrend. This new numbers is from stats. I compiled into CarTest. I might be giving the 350Z an advantage in the weight department.

hey Josh, yah this was a race from a few weeks ago. the guy i raced last friday actually said he was slower then this one. anyways the same outcome fromboth, no problem until 110mph.
