Arnold is right about it. The turbo kits cost about $6k starting out and go up from there for the good stuff. Vortech sells a kit that puts down 500 hp to the wheels that comes with the supercharger after cooler and all the trimmings for $5K. Plus the fact that the LS1 has a static compression of 10.2:1 or there abouts and that is far from high bost friendly. There are turbo LS1 cars that have been rebuilt big bore low compression strokers that will run low nines on pump gas but they cost astronomical ammounts of money to build.

Easy now it was a joke.
And you are probably right on your analysis, what is your point again ?

The LS1 setups are ungodly expensive ($6-$8K) and for the money (hp/ $$$) ratio on a stock motor isnt worth it. Like it was said, the LS1 has an 10:1 compression ratio which would let you run more than 5-8 lbs of intercolled boost.... 3-4 of non intercooled. 3-4 might get you to 450 RWHP which is what a good heads and cam will get you for 1/3 the money.
Now if you built a low compression, forged setup, it wouldnt be bad, but there is still 2 problems... $$$$$$$$$$ and space.

Out of all the LS1 people no one has done this ? And why buy a kit ? I pieced mine together much cheaper than any kit I have seen for my car.
P.S. You know why I bother.
Seriously though you guys need to lighten up.
