This isn't a typical call out. You're always guestimating on how much power your car is putting down, and EVERYONE wants to see it on paper. PappaSmurf has GENEROUSLY said he would pay for one run at Sam's dyno (Coastal). Which means you have NO EXCUSE not to get this done. Hell, I'll make it worth your wild, and chip in for another run if you want.

Now you have NO EXCUSE!!! Dyno that drag queen, and get this over with.

I'll dyno it on this setup Sunday if you set it up, but I tell you now, my car needs tuning BADLY.... But I will run it as is, then when the new kit is on, and its all tuned up, youll see the new numbers at the H/A dyno day....

255 isnt a bad guess. especially if he's running pig rich.

My estimation was 250-280whp. So we'll see. I don't even know what sized turbo he's running anymore. :?

I do recall it being a rather large turbo, and him saying he was running 18psi....

its a big blow dryer...... and 255 is a pretty respectable number, concidering you match the times with trap speeds and weight of car.....

Im gonna go out on a whim here, and guess Im a little closer to the 280-300 range... Its a Precision PT-67 (.63a/r stage V exhaust, 360 race bearing center, and to4S cover with a 67mm compressor wheel) And I run between 15 and 19 pounds... Street tuning on 17psi, the a/f was about 11.5:1 under full boost, so on 19 I guesstimate between 11.8 and 12:1....

hmmm? chris has a way bigger setup than me and i was able to put down 264h/276t on 19 psi untuned on the second run with a stock side mount, so im guess hes anywhere around there to 290? but i will be there to watch

good luck at the dyno.
my buddy made 270hp and 215tq at 12lbs in his stock LS with a T3T04B turbo.

What's odd about LS's is they don't seem to like making more then 280whp without EMS and great tuning. Stock internals will begin to fail shortly after 320whp. Starting with those ringlands, and ending with rods smashing through the block.

17psi on that large turbo will either blow your engine, or be too much for the engine to flow. I dont think he's going to make more then 280whp.

However, I could be wrong. :)

Chris: what size injectors are you running? 17-19psi outa that turbo is good for 500+hp so either he is running stupid lean which is what is making the turbo create so much boost or his boost guage is wrong.
Either way, its gotta be a "wed." motor cause its still holding together.

I just dont understand how you can run that air/fuel with 450's and 17 psi of boost? I run 12psi and close to maxed out the 450's on my LS........... I now run 550's and am making high 200's and mid 200's tq with a some room to spare. Im thinking by looking at my maps and how my car runs that 450's are good to roughly 300whp and 550's to 350whp.Not nocking you or calling you a liar, but, how is this possible?

Just FYI we backed the boost down a little to about 17.5psi just to be safe... all the talk about blowing up kinda scared me...

Torque steadily dropped due to the motor heating up because the inlet on the turbo so conveniently sits 2 inches behind my radiator fan.... I had one run on about 16psi, that spun the tires on the dyno and read about 258 lb ft torque....

Air fuel looked really good... Being tuned on a stock map kinda sucks because it gets really fat at 10psi, then steadily leans back out to about 11.8-12:1 under full boost...

Keep in mind, this was on a shitty street tune... There will be more tuning to come, and we WILL get that 300hp sheet.... :)

He said they did spin, thus the out of whack torque numbers, and from the front, we all saw it lift up and get real crazy on the dyno.... Thats why after the VHT and restrapping it, we saw some better torque numbers, not neccesarily higher, but more accurate... And I watched the boost gauge on one of the little test runs before the last pass after I adjusted the boost, and I saw it between 17 and 18, so I think his statement was accurate....

Ron, the reason (as far as I can tell) he is making such low power on a larger compressor, is that the exhaust side is still using a t3 exducer, and only a stage 5 wheel. In order to make any decent power with such a huge compressor housing, he'd need a P or Q wheel, and a big t4 shaft machined inside that tiny housing. I wouldnt trust that turbo to spin high rpm. The t3 tiny shaft inside there might not be able to turn it, and break.

He told me when it starts to spin on the dyno, and then hooks again, that sudden jolt in torque somehow fools the dyno and makes it read higher than what it really is.....

that turbo has already proved itself to be a great turbo for big power high reving Honda motors.
I dont think a stock LS motor can use that turbo's potential, I would have stayed with the T3/To4B that he had originally...quick spool and good power.

something definately looks to be wrong in your setup...I would like to see the dyno chart. Ron is right to say you should be making that power with 10-12psi.

As I said, the setup still needs a LOT more tuning.... And Im sure the turbo is the limiting factor... This is not an ordinary PT67 as Ive been trying to explain, it was custom built for another car, and we just threw it on mine to see what it would do.... This turbo doesnt even start to breathe til about 20psi, thus the lower than average numbers... The maps of this turbo are shitty because its not a good design and has horrible balance.... This will all be proven when the turbo is replaced....

Also, the turbine section doesnt really affect a/f at all. When you bolted on that turbo, you went from 12:1 to below 10:1 which means that compressor side on your new turbo isnt flowing as much air (~20% less air). The turbine on that turbo (T70?) isnt any smaller than your t3/t4 and i made 290 on 15 lbs uncorrected on that same t3/t4 turbo. So its the compressor robbing you power not the turbine.
