View Full Version : Gen 3 Dyno Session - ECU BATTLE!!!

Put my Gen 3 on the dyno today. I made multiple dyno runs at different boost levels on 3 different ECU's. I ran sessions on the stock ecu, a Mine's tuned ECU, and a SARD Analyze ECU. The Mine's ECU is the one I currently own and run in the car on a daily basis. I ran each ECU at 10psi, and 16psi. Then I ran the SARD and Mine's an additional run at 20psi, and 20psi with a gallon of xylene added. Only major problem I had was that the ct20b not holding the boost pressure. The turbo would hit 16psi but then after 4k rpm would drop to about 12-13psi, and when set to 20psi, it would hit 20psi and then at 4k rpm drop to about 15-16psi. So the initial torque you are seeing is basically at the boost pressure set, then the HP output at the lower boost pressure. Here are the results.

Stock ECU at 10psi - 229hp 221tq

awesome mang :D

you should also post this in the general car chat...that way people can now see that the gen3 truly decimates all

I am very pleased with the results, but will be more pleased once it holds 20psi to redline.

LOL the pic in my sig I pulled off of some random jap's sw20 site. It's kinda queer.

I just picked up a Blitz Access CPU so as soon as I get that in, we can throw another ecu on the fire. Hopefully we can dyno it on Mark's car at the XAT dyno day.

w3rd. I don't even think that have dyno comparison between these 4 ECU's in japan. Kinda funny.

I just re-read this thread. I forgot a major shout out here.

I did the dyno runs at XAT Racing. Thank you so much Ryan, for setting up the dyno session. I will be using XAT's services in the future!

What's wrong with your 2?

lol.. funny i've never llisted what's actually all wrong with it, even to myself...

let me see..

front rotor warped
fixing now, if the rotors are still in spec, gonna cut it, if now, drilled for the front

e brake snaped
eh, no money for that...

the previous owner pulled vac lines to run 14lb without a fuel cut defenser
dunno how to return it back to noral

exhaust manifold leak
um.. yeah...

the under engine braces are rusted and snapped
couldn't find a wrecked one to fine new ones

needs new clutch
$$$

dunno what else is wrong with it, but i can only run 15.3 at the track with it and ryan was there with aresenal and he thought my 2 was n/a, so aresenal gave me the number for ryan and his email, i just need to contact him. just haven't had a chance, and no money, meh:mad:

Vaccum lines to hit fuel cut again .

Plug teh vaccum line that runs from the Turbo-VSV in it will be capped tot he map/boost sensor on the rear firewall right behind the intake manifold .

Fuel cut again . I'd just leave it plugged in anyway . It causes no real harm and more boost = fun

that's what everyone saids, but a few of my friends said i should go back to 8lb to see what's going on with it, it seems to die off around 7k

The CT26 is garbage .

Get a KO Street Brawler Kit . T3/T4 300RWHP with 550's and an AFC . That 300 @ wheels with the ATS CT26 was done with aftermarket IC , sandalone etc .

for 1800 you can have the T3/T4 kit which will do 400 + at the wheels with fuel

i would also need a new emu for the ko don't i?

What kit is 1800 the sb kit is 2300. The ATS ct27 seems over priced to me but I havent looked into it that much. Apparently they widened the exhaust outlet of the turbo which is the ct26s major problem. They should be posting some new dyno numbers soon.

twas a slightly used SB kit went for liek 1750 shipped on the boards .

Most CT26 upgrades just go with a T4 compressor doing nothing but a clip of the exhaust wheel . They actually re deigned the exhaust housing ont he CT27 whatever . Either way . Why its still not Bb still a POS . 800 4's could go towards a much better turbo kit .

Jeckle whatever has a T3/T4 , 550 Supra injectors , VPC/AFC combo and an intake manifold and made 350 + RWHP on a 200k mile engine .

that'll probably be the way i go then, that's my goal when i brought the two, to be up in the 300s (seems to be the magic number for most of us)

i have a few questions, since you guys seem to be so knowlegeable in the twos and are more local than the guys on mr2oc

does the 93+ lsd tranny fit in a 91?

exhaust gasket, do i just go back to toyota and buy one? how about exhaust manifold bolts?

where can i get new weather stripping for the doors? would any weather stripping work?

thanks in advance, sorry i hijacked the thread, if needed, i'll start a seperate thread or something, thank you!

The 93+ LSD does fit, but you'd be better off getting the whole 93+ tranny and LSD since the 93 tranny is a lot better than the 91.

You can get gaskets and bolts from toyota but they charge a lot.

You can also get new weather stripping from toyota but don't count on it fixing your leak. I paid a lot of cash to replace mine and they still leaked. I ended up fixing the leak with $4 worth of black silocone calk from home depot. Find the leaking spots and dab some silocone on the cleaned weather stripping. Put saran wrap over the window, close the door with the window up and wait 8 hours. Then trim the excess silicone with an exacto knife.

As for the t3/t4, then KO kit is your best bet, but you can put your own kit together. All you need is an adapter plate ($50), turbocharger ($500), wastegate ($30), and a downpipe and wastegate adapter ($400ish). Add misc. oil lines and fittings for another $100. There is a lot of info on the mr2 faq about different turbos and sizes. You can get a t3/t4 from anywhere and if you have the specs for the street brawler, you can just buy that turbo and put your own kit together with the parts listed above. Come out on the 18th to XAT and I'll show you the one I put together.
