I was at the db drag races today talking with this guy with an astro that has the title or whatever and he said jl just fall apart can't handle it and the ones that can hit are rockford (don't know which model guessing the power) , memphis, mtx.

anybody know about this is true?

the rockford subs he was talking about are probably the team RF's wich are som sick a$$ subs... those subs can handle like 2000 watts rms or something like that.... i'm not trying to put any other brands down but i love all the rockford and lightning audio products... to me they are one of the best out there

when he said for competition he probably ment cuse the big sponsored systems like his probably was will put like 5000 rms to a sub that's rated for 2000 rms cuse they only "burp" it.... it only takes like 3 seconds for the db to register on the meter i think.... JL's aren't really made for that...they're made to make money off people :) ....once again i'm not putting down JL's but just saying for cometition use (when u get into the bigger classes) they aren't the best...

I've worked with both brands...I'd take a JL product over RF anyday. Competition or not. RF was once respectable, now they're mid-end at best thanks to mass production/marketing. Seems like they're more concerned about production cost than a quality product. Anyone who's owned old school RF knows what I'm talking about....I'm talking about the stuff they put out 5++ years ago.

ok i can see like a JL W6 being louder than like a new Rockford T1 MAYBE but when u get into the T2's and Team RF's there's nothing JL makes that could even come close.... I agree that Rockford has been mass marketed for the past couple years but they STILL make some hard hitting subs and some awesome amps.... have u seen the team RF's or the Lightning Audio Storm subs or heard them play?...they are louder than ANY JL i have ever heard....u can argue all u want but for the price of JL u can get alot better sound from something else... the W6's are a nice sub but $460 can get you alot better sub...not saying it HAS to be a rockford and i;m not saying JL sux....all i;m saying is that for the money u pay u can end up with alot nicer set up if u went with something else....

i wouldnt buy fosgate, yeah they make some loud subs but the loudness really isnt as big of a deal as SQ to me.. and fosgate doesnt have very good sq imo

no RF doesn't really make good sq subs but hey have u ever heard of OZ audio?... from what i hear from alot of people they are one of the best for sq.... i heard they're the only company to get a perfect score in competition.... i don't know what orginization but they do make some good sq stuff....

This guys posts remind me of Tim's posts. LoL. I would take JL over RF anyday only because of what John said, one day RF WAS good but once they got that name, they down graded their stuff and knew since they had that name a lot of people would still buy it thinking it was good. I remember their old amps were rated so low but put out so more than the RMS rating. Now a days RF is pure crap. Atleast with JL your paying those high prices and getting something, RF your getting crap. And OZ audio, yeah they are good. But they are expensive. Your over here telling us how JL audio is so overpriced and you can get better bla bla bla then you jump to OZ audio...SAME THING. Hrmm

You can compare product for product and always find something better...but I'm talking about the company as a whole. JL is definetly a few notches over RF when it comes to quality. And Lightning Audio is just a "budget" subsidary of RF. Also, JL's competition line sub is the W7.

Have to agree with Curtis on the price comparison as well...you can say JL is high, but I seriously doubt a Team RF sub is pocket change or ANY competition level product for that matter. Besides the point, prices usually aren't a top concern for people heavily into competing anyways.

LOL.. Because I had one.. and it was the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. I had a 98 Sport.. Bought it in 2000 with 29K miles on it.. and by the time I had 34K miles on it, the engine was replaced, all four power window actuators were replaced, the ac compressor was replaced, and the rear diff was leaking..

I kept it until 90k miles or so, and that's when it completely fell apart. First and second gear wouldn't keep, the rear diff fell out, and I was getting about 5 mpg gas mileage. Mine was a complete lemon and cost me shit loads of money. My cousin had the same thing, but a 99 and he had very similiar problems.. Most of you don't know me in real life, but I'm very easy on my vehicles, and very anal retentive on how my vehicles are driven and kept clean (I'm OCD :lol: ).

I know lemons are pretty much the exception, and not the rule.. but that was my second Ford and my second problematic Ford, and I have sworn to myself never to own another. I've owned GM's, DC's, and foreign cars, and never had a problem with any of them; but those two Ford's just flat out SUCKED in quality and performance, as well as SUCKED all my money out of the bank.

Well mine has 94k miles on it and the biggest thing i had to do on it so far are the brakes *knock on wood* The only thing I am worried about right now is the transmission cuz everyone says they dont go over 100k. I have a secondary transmission filter kit but too lazy to install it yet. But i love my car

hey quit dissin the fords yo! im on my second, the other one had 53k miles and never had ONE problem, i warped the rotors slammin on teh brakes from 140 but u cant expect much differant to happen..that car i ran hard as hell too, now i have 25k but i just got it 2 months ago..no probs so far.. altho my mom had a ford escape and that was a piece of shit.. rack and pinion was replaced, all kinds of stuff up front, we finally got rid of that though.. i think its just the ford suv's that suck lol
