Need HELP!

I just installed an Alpine CDA-9831 headunit into my 02 mits galant. ONE problem: I didint need a dashkit to instal it, and everything fits in fine EXCEPT the plastic rectangle piece that goes around the faceplate. It is too big for the slot open for my headunit. I was wonderin what the hell i could do cuz it looks really gay without it right now... :(

Mount the HU so that it sticks out enough so you can put on the plastic piece..
