View Full Version : My New System
Alpine CDA-9831
2 Inifinity Kappa 60.5CS
2 Infinity Kappa 693.5I 6 x 9s
2 Infinity Kappa Perfect12.1 subs
Infinity REF1210A 1200 watt class d amp for subs
Infinity REF7540A 520 Watt 4-channel amp for the speakers
I think its a decent deal but the amp is a little strong for the subs, gonna have to be carefull with wiring. If you got any suggestions im open to hear ya, I know how some people can be really obnoxious on these boards, but im not made of money (only 17) and this stuff is cheap.

shouldnt be, what is the rms, on the subs, and what is the rms of the amp???
just because it says its a 1200 watt amp, doesnt mean its putting out that type of power...
for the subs:
Power Handling, Peak: 1400W
Power Handling, RMS: 350W
Sensitivity: 96dB (In car)
Frequency Response (± 1.5dB): 18Hz - 150 Hz
Frequency Response (±3dB): 18Hz - 150Hz
Impedance: 4 Ohms
Mounting Depth: 6-1/2"
for the amp:
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 72 dBA (reference 1 watt into 4 ohms)
Dynamic Power: 1516 watts at 2 ohms
Effective Damping Factor: 6.357 at 4 ohms
Frequency Response (–3dB): 17Hz to 302Hz (-3dB)
Maximum Input Signal: 5.7V
Maximum Sensitivity: 260mV
Output Regulation: .132 dB at 4 ohms
im gonna put this in the audio forum

Jesse, I beg to differ. I used to have 2 10" Infinity Ref subs and they sounded pretty good. Infinity is more of a SQ company and if thats what ur lookin then you got it. I have infinity highs in my explorer and they scream so Im sure the highs sound real nice in your car.
As for that infinity amp, Im sure it puts out around 1000 watts at 2 ohms altho no where can I find the RMS power on that amp which makes me say HMMMM. As for overpowering those subs, Kappa's are that cheap of sub and I am sure they can take a good beating. And remember bigger amp is better than gettin a smaler amp cuz on a bigger amp you can always turn it down. Make sure you get atleast 4 guage going to that amp.
infinity to me is like polk... its there alright..sounds alright but doesnt impress me at all.
If i wanted to impress people id put more than 700 into it, systems usually sound different in different cars. Maybe it will sound great in my car, maybe it woulnt. Well just have to see, but before that im not gonna bash infinity.

The kappas aren't bad, it's not ghetto funk spl stuff, but their clean. And you're right, that amp is major overkill. It's not hard to blow Infinity subs, be very cautious with your settings.
