is it better to spend alot of money on a head unit and then not buy an Eq or is better to get a decent radio and an eq?
discuss
To me thats like having an amp and no subs.. if you want to tune the system more accurately it makes sense to go with an EQ. :)
What kind of headunit are you look for? headunit with good SQ or functionality?

IMO, get a deck that already has nice eq controls. Kill two birds with one stone. An external eq is really only needed if you're running multiple amp/speaker combos and/or your deck just flat out sucks. I think for what you're looking for though, a nice deck would be more than good enough.

if you run a stock head unit and buy an eq, will that equal out to just haveing a decent aftermarket HU ?

No, there's alot more to decks than just eq controls. Today's decks offer a plethora of sound processing goodies, which is why I say an external eq isn't necessary on the average system.

yeah i know but i now have the 6 disc mach and i dotn wanna get rid of teh 6 disc lol.. i have an alpin 9807 sitting in my room, but its only 1 cd
Get the changer for the alpine then and sell your stock setup dumbass  :p
If you are just using it to get good sound of out it then go with just a headunit... I want to someday enter my car into competitions which is why I have a crazy EQ setup.. but I need to get it tuned

The 9807 plays mp3's. What do you need 6 cd's for?
Id rather have an external eq, many HU eq's dont have the range Id like, or the functions
