I have an old truck with two little speakers and a head unit. but one speaker works on and off and the other one does the same. do you think if I figured out how to pull them out and fix the wire somehow the problem would be fixed?

also if I want to upgrade the speakers (have an upgraded clarion head unit) would I need an external amp or would two 4 1/2 inch speakers be fine working off the head unit internal amp?

please help

they will be fine off the head unit... if they are cutting on and off, check the connection at the back of the head unit, the wires will be labeld what they go to..

ohh how would I take the head unit out? would I slide it out from the front or do I have to take some bolts out from the back?

the stock head unit? more then likely there is stuff to unscrew or somthing in teh back, the ford escape i was driving had 4 little holes, 2 on each side.. that there was a tool you stuck in, and it pulled right out

i think onlt ford and vw are nice enough to use removal tools

as far as the speaker thing, it sounds like its shorting out, wires somewhere along the line are touching something or themselves

I don't think it is the deck cause if I tap the speaker a little it will work for about 10 seconds. My other questino is how do I take the speaker out cause it is sitting there it is an older truck so it isn't in the door it is in the column near your feet. The left one just comes out but I don't want to twist the other one or pull it out

how else would they mount it f you can't take panals off to get to it

whazz up just run all new lines. In a little truck it shouldnt be all that hard. Go to wal mart and pick up some car speaker wire in the back hella cheap and just rerun everything. Its better than goings thru the whole truck searching for some busted ass speaker wire.

There shouldn't be a busted speaker wire though...especially considering it's happening on both speakers. What are the odds of that. So you have a Clarion deck and factory speakers in there?

no clarion deck with boston speakers two 4 " looks like They work if I move them around I am guessing it is a loose wire. My problem is how do I get to them? they aren't in the door or anything but in the body like it's weird. i'll try and get pictures but no screws or anything around do you think it will come out if I twist the speaker?
