ok, i just got an avalon 15" sub from another guy here on the forum, he had two in a fiberglass box with about 3 cuft between the two...i was wondering if 1 cube or maybe 1 14/ cubes are enough for the sub or will i tear itselff apart?

Having never seen the sub or its specs, i have no idea, but im gonna guess that your not gonna be too happy with the sound with that small of a box. Very few subs are good in small enclosures...ed for example. But the box makes the sub, so don't skimp on either.

well the reason i want to go small on it is because i am going to need some trunk space, but i guess if i have to go big i have to go big

 fold down the back seets if it will fit.. i made 3 seperate semi-small boxes for mine and they can still get annoying to get out (altho my floor is raised 4 inches)

yeah, i made a false floor for mine, its only a 3/4inch raise and it still makes it a pain

You've never seen the trunk of a Eclipse Spyder have you.;)
You need to find out the factory specs for that particular sub and build a box as closely to that as possible. I can almost assure you the requirements will call for a box in excess of 2 cubic ft though.

nope, dont know anybody with a spyder...are is just a bitch because the opening is so small but im s ure you have the same problem.

Yeah, my opening is about 14". There's probably less than 4 cubic ft. of trunk area.

you both suck,
anyway, i think ive got it down, im gonna put it in about a 1 1/2cuft box thats built to the floor with the amps mounted underneath the false floor with plexi to show the insides off
you should build a spare tire well box, thats prolly a cube if not alittle less.. then raise the floor the rest.. then amps on a panel between the false floor and rear deck

im already using the spare tire well for the spare and to hide the amps and wires, (amps mounted upside down to the false floor wth plexi windows)

Box is going to be too small...half-ass the install and you better expect half-assed performance. Goodluck.

Building a box to specs has nothing to do with perfection. It's called common sense. And don't worry, for some odd reason I think you're the only genious on this forum that would use something other than MDF. :dunno::tard:

no, building a box BELOW specs is because you dont have the space...and i know others with plywood boxes :D
you can bulid a box out of balsa wood if you brace it enough...but itd be one solid brace lol

First, you should get a general idea of the space you have to work with and pick a sub accordingly. It's called being "efficient." Duh. Second, if you can only come up with 1.5 cubic ft. in the trunk of a Mustang....you're obvioulsy not trying hard enough.

my math was off, the box came out to be something like 2 1/2-3 cubes

Carpet that sucker and mount an amp rack right on the front there and you'll be set to go.

so if you screw an amp to the side of your box that is considerd an amp rack?? thast kinda retarted cuz i have "made an amp rack" on every system i have done cuz its the easiest thing to do with them lol..

Where did I say that? I was thinking more of a flush mounted trim panel or atleast an extended platform hiding the wires. But while we're on the subject, technically, I would consider anything a amp is mounted to as an "amp rack"...complexity is another issue.

i was just wondering cuz i see people saying they made an amp rack, but simply screwed the amp on the back of the box
